Please Masai, do not cave and trade Powell in any Drummond deal. The Raptors are better off going small if these past two games are any indication.

Powell has been fantastic this year. It's really a shame that if we want to keep him, we'll end up with about 80% of our payroll locked up in FVV, OG, Powell and Siakam - leaving us no room for any impact player (either at C or SG). I have grown to love all 4 of those players and while I think we can win a lot of game with that core, I don't think that core wins playoff rounds and thus I think ultimately, something will have to give.

What is the consensus on the draft? I mean Cade Cunningham looked like s*** in the 2 games I saw and he's projected 1st overall. Kia Jones is projected to Toronto right now and he looked like balls in the tournament too.

I have no idea. I actually think the Raps can still sneak into the playoffs, but I don't know if that's best for the future. I don't think they'll trade either unless the return is well worth it. I could see Powell being traded and Kyle staying.

Got Gary Trent Jr. for Powell. Apparently that's a decent move.

 

Trent is supposed to be an elite perimeter defender and a decent scorer (just not as good off the bounce). We've been getting killed on the perimeter with 3s. This could be an interesting trade, where it helps us both this year and over the summer/next year in cap space.

Yeah - I'm good with getting Trent. We'll have to pay him this year, but he's essentially a much younger version of Norm, probably with better defense and less offensive versatility.

 

Sad to see Norm go. It's been amazing watching him develop into a true efficient, offensive weapon. May have to root for the Trail Blazers in the west now.
