Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Abom, I just missed the update on Lowry, all I heard he wasn't coming back? Also, I agree. Hey, you following the Nucks? Not really sure on Lowry. We'll probably never know either. Yeah, I'll be watching. I haven't followed much the last year or so, but am watching the playoffs.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 Not so many years ago and 77-68 would be a final score. I bet Brooklyn is going to get a very uncomfortable half-time speech.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 How crazy is it that we put up 77 points at the half, and Lowry and FVV have combined for 8?
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Remember fans were crying about Norm God’s contract? Good times. Maybe, just maybe.... Masai knows what he’s doing.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Raps got this... flagrant my ass! Get that garbage out of here!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Pretty sure we just obliterated the NBA record for bench scoring in a game, let alone a playoff one.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Remember fans were crying about Norm God’s contract? Good times. It's pretty rad how quickly Norm went from cap filler in every single trade scenario to one of the best bargain contracts in the NBA. If the Raptors need to unload him to make room for a FVV, they could get a 1st rd pick from multiple teams.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Yesterday was a really impressive day for basketball. Doncic becomes the first player in NBA history to put up 43+ points, 17+ rebounds, and 13+ assists in a playoff game. The only time it had ever been done before was in a regular season game - by Wilt Chamberlain. Oh, and he did it on a bad ankle, while hitting the game winning shot. Raptors shatter the NBA record for bench scoring, putting up 100 points. Mitchell and Murray become the first opponents to score 50+ points each in the same playoff game. Mitchell becomes the 3rd person in playoff history to have two 50 point performances in a series, joining Jordan and Iverson.

That stuff has to easily be worth six or seven figures.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Masai's personnel track record is virtually unblemished. The dude has never really made a regrettable mistake since he's been at the helm, and he's struck gold repeatedly.

Legit the only thing I can think of the Demarre Carroll contract...after that it's all gold stars man
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 So who is gonna take Lowry's place??
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 So who is gonna take Lowry's place?? Probably the Raptors other all-star calibre point guard...
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 What is the max million per year everyone would be OK with paying Fred next year?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 What is the max million per year everyone would be OK with paying Fred next year? I could see him commanding anywhere from $15m-$25m AAV, and some team like the Pistons, Knicks or Bobcats would give it to him. I'd be very okay with just paying him in that range and letting the chips fall where they may. If we have a real chance of signing Giannis next offseason, you could always trade FVV or Siakam if necessary to make cap room. Lowry is gone after next season and if Gasol/Ibaka come back next year it will be on one year deals.

The only thing Fred struggled with that I wanted to see improvement on was his finishing at the rim but in the bubble and playoffs he has been finishing at a much higher rate. On the Giannis topic, FVV is a perfect teammate for Giannis ++ Defense, great shooter, can take some of the ball handling/pressure off Giannis.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 What are our chances in the Raptors vs Celtics matchup?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Yikes. That's an awful deal for the Bucks.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 What are our chances in the Raptors vs Celtics matchup? 61% win probability.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 61% win probability. That'll go down considerably if Lowry can't play and Powell and FVV make good on their musings and decide to boycott the games for social justice.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 That'll go down considerably if Lowry can't play and Powell and FVV make good on their musings and decide to boycott the games for social justice. Wat?
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 That'll go down considerably if Lowry can't play and Powell and FVV make good on their musings and decide to boycott the games for social justice. Powell might be able to get away with it, but FVV is going to seriously hurt his upcoming contract if he goes through with it.

SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 What are our chances in the Raptors vs Celtics matchup? I am optimistic Lowry plays and if he does then I think win probability will be on our side for sure. Especially with Hayward out and Boston has virtually zero depth, if our starters can play even to just slightly below even we should have a big advantage during the bench minutes.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 This boycott talk is the most useless thing I have ever heard. What actions that are not already on the table or being worked on can result from this? Leagues have suffered from no fans, shortened seasons and now they want to boycott a game? They both just sat forever also..
