According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Raptors "have tried to work their way into the DeAndre Jordan trade mix."

 

The Cavaliers are firmly in the mix and the Bucks are also rumored to be interested, but LAC's asking price is likely still very high. The Raptors would likely need a third team to help facilitate a deal, but if they are serious about adding Jordan, you would think Jonas Valanciunas goes elsewhere. No deal is imminent for now.

Overall: Richardson, a former McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand Classic selectee, averaged 13.3 points on 36 percent shooting, 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists while starting every game this season for Syracuse ... The freshman saw his draft stock rise after putting up a string of solid performances throughout the NCAA Tournament, including scoring 23 points – 21 in the second half – to lead the Orange to comeback victory over Virginia in the Elite Eight. He also scored 17 points in the team's Final Four loss to North Carolina. Although Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim often got on Richardson for his poor shot selection, he was able to make up for it by playing well when it mattered the most. In a nutshell, Richardson is an attacking guard and a streaky shooter who can shoot the lights out on any given night. If his ball-handling, decision-making and overall shooting consistency continues to improve then he can be terrific scorer at the next level. He's a bit of a raw talent but has a ton of upside and will likely get selected mid-to-late first round of this year's draft if he decides to not return for his sophomore season.

You know James is gone at the end of the year too, so I think this is just Cleveland's way of saying they are tired of his 1 year commitments and trying to piece a team around him 1 year at a time.

If the team is left as is, there's a good chance it'll get pounced in the playoffs for the reasons already discussed here. But the team is also set up to be above average for the next 5 years when the dominant teams start to fizzle out, except Boston which has the same competitive window as the Raptors.

 

If you trade for a top player, there's a good chance the Raptors become the #2 team, but are still miles behind #1. You mortgage that future for a reasonable shot at finals appearance....that lasts maybe 5 games.

I'm not sure I'd want to give up Wright either. I think Powell and Siakam would be the two best choices. Maybe you could look at trading Ibaka, and letting Poeltl take that position if you really need to free up money, but then you're probably committed to keeping JV for the foreseeable future.
