Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 The Rockets have traded for Chris Paul (instead of signing him as a free agent, so they could send salary back to the Clippers) and are apparently trying to get Paul George too. I think quite a few teams are going to look very different next season.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Thats pretty fun. Rockets are one of my fav teams to watch. Apparently the Knicks are targeting Masai

Apparently the Knicks are targeting Masai At first I thought why would he ever consider joining such a dysfunctional organisation. Thinking about it though, rebuilding a historic franchise does have its appeal I guess. Maybe he could turn them around in time to coincide with LeBron's retirement.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 Knicks could offer like $10M. Not sure if he'd want to work for Dolan though he's one of the worst owners in sports.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 I'd ask for big time compensation from the Knicks. At least 2 first rounders.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 hopefully he'll take demar with him
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 23,000,000 a year for Reddick. What's KL gonna want?
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 23,000,000 a year for Reddick. What's KL gonna want? Probably just the best player they could get on a 1 year deal to meet the floor cap.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 No rebuild. I don't think rebuilding is the best strategy for this team right now anyways. The fan support is at an all-time high, they've locked up DeRozan long term, they've been a winning team now for the last 4 seasons (never had that success during the regular season for that long of a period), and they are still one of the top teams in the East if they could bring back Lowry. As well, Cleveland's dynasty could come crumbling down if LeBron leaves after next season, which would leave the door wide open in the East for teams like the Raptors, Celtics, Wizards, Bucks etc. It's not like another team in the East would be a lock to beat the Raps in a 7 game series - I mean sure Boston or Washington could win a series against the Raps, though at least the Raps stand a chance. If the Raptors were in the West, then different story. Seems like all the super teams will be out West, none in the East unless LeBron decides to stay in Cleveland. Even if the Raptors don't win a championship in the next 3-5 years, it's probably just best to make the playoffs every year in hope of going to the 2nd or 3rd round, even perhaps the Finals one year. Keeps the excitement around the organization, market Toronto as a good destination for NBA players & make money from fans in the stands. Also, MLSE has to factor in the Leafs. If the Leafs continue their upward trend of winning and the Raptors decide to rebuild & lose while that happens, everybody will forget about basketball in this city. At least if the Raptors put a winning product on the floor every night, they will fill the arena.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Lowry re-signing with the Raptors. 3 years, $100 million. Good!
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I wonder if the Raps have any shot of landing one more significant piece and really go for it this year.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I wonder if the Raps have any shot of landing one more significant piece and really go for it this year. nope
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Apparently the Raps offered Tucker 3/32, but he accepted 4/32 from Houston instead.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Lowry re-signing with the Raptors. 3 years, $100 million. Good! Supposedly there's incentives as well, which I assume could take it up to a max deal.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I wonder if the Raps have any shot of landing one more significant piece and really go for it this year. Which other players are available via free agency or trade?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Supposedly there's incentives as well, which I assume could take it up to a max deal. Raps are heading into luxury tax penalties now with that deal. Too bad I guess, a willingness to spend is needed in today's NBA but since they're already hitched up to the DeRozan dead horse there's no way they win a title
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Which other players are available via free agency or trade? Millsap just went to Denver, 3 years 90 million
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I like these turn of events. With Ibaka this is the best roster this team has had for a full season. LeBron is a year older but even if he still can't be topped, going for the franchise record for wins at 58 should still be fun. I like this team, no matter what the dorks who believe "championship or bust" and that the team should tank think. JV will be traded for a bag of balls just to get under the luxury tax.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Have to think Cory Jo gets moved in a salary dump too. Have Wright as the backup PG anyway.

Send him to the Knicks along with whatever they want for Porzingis....

Also have to consider if LeBron leaves Cleveland after this season. If he does and goes to a team in the West like the Lakers, then the East is for the taking between the Raptors, Celtics, Wizards and Bucks.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Does JV have any trade value? I mean he's still young and has a very team friendly contract. Just curious as to what the Raps could get.

Just curious as to what the Raps could get. Could probably get back a couple 1sts if they took a contract back but if its a straight salary dump I'm not sure the return is going to be great. He hasn't really gotten any better over the last 3 years.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Cojo is making peanuts so we should get something useful for him back, but Wright needs to play this year
