His shooting mechanics are terrible. Demar is a bad shooter overall. He just takes a lot of mid range shots so a few go in making the general fan think he is a decent shooter.

Interested to see how he improves defensively at Kentucky. I think at this point its safe to say he will be a good offensive player but the question is going to be if he will be able to defend guards at the next level since he isn't that athletic (relative to NBA guards).

Pretty big dollars for a guy who's incapable of being an offensive focal point. He's really more of an all-around glue guy.

 

That's been well established, but I'd bet against this team winning 45+ games next year or making it past the 1st round.

It's not dumn at all. This team drastically over-performed in the 1st half. There's a very real chance this isn't even a .500 team next year. I fail to see how Joseph is going to replace the output of Lou and Vasquez in the backcourt, we're going to be really f***ed when Lowry inevitably hits the wall and gets dinged up.

 

This looks like a board wager in the making.

 

You need at least two star-level offensive options to be a contender in the NBA. DeRozan isn't that and never will be, he's a volume scorer who really can't make things happen against elite teams.

I'd bet pretty hard on them winning 50+. Replacing vasquez with Joseph is huge

The team actually isn't that bad. Top 10 in net rating and could very easily be 9-4 if they got a couple breaks. So far my takeaways on the season are:

 

The Good

 

-JV has improved even if he makes a bad mistake here and there

 

- Cory Joseph is a lot better than I thought he would be and a great 6th man

 

- Lowry looks really good still

 

The Bad

 

- Carrol hasn't been as good as I thought especially offensively. Seems to force a lot of shots

 

-Scola frustrates the hell out of me with his shot selection and awful attempts at drawing charges

 

- Derozan still takes too many mid range shots even if he cut down the number of long 2s

 

- Biyombo is such a disaster on offence to the point he is a negative player
