jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Derozan avg' 15 FTA a game. Hopefully he can return to his 2013-2014 form because he is a very likable guy and would rather not cringe watching him play
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 He was never really quick, just out muscled and outworked a lot of opposing wings, which is why he always struggled against the Jimmy Butlers and Tony Allen's even in hot stretches
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 No of course he was never particularly speedy, but this year he actually just seems like he's in a constant state of trying to run in a pool. And the pool is filled with molasses.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Might just be him trying to slow down the game, all that fancy dribbling garbage he did last year did nothing.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Watched part of the game last night, have to agree with GD. Hated the offensive style of play. They can beat the bad teams by Derozan getting to the FT line but against the good teams they won't win crap. Derozan isn't a good enough athlete to beat good defensive players so they are going to have to change the way they play in order to beat good teams IMO. Lowry is still fantastic but he can only do so much.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 The more I watch the raps, the more I am coming to believe they will never win anything when DeRozan is their offensive focus.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Biyombo can barely convert layups and still a big improvement over Hayes and Hansbrough
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 And Cory Joseph is such a massive upgrade over Vasquez running the second unit it's redonkulous
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 It will be interesting to see how Cojo adapts to being the starting PG when the inevitable Lowry injury occurs. The Lowry/Joseph backcourt is pretty good though
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Love Jonas confidence this year. Bench looks great
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 We know this team will be able to score...but will they be able to lock down on the defensive end when it's called for.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 We know this team will be able to score...but will they be able to lock down on the defensive end when it's called for. With this team, it is the opposite. We know they will play good defense but when the opponents defense tightens, will they be able to get a score?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Ball movement actually looks pretty good. Of course Derozan isn't on the floor..
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Biyombo looks worse than Chuck Hayes on offence.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 We know this team will be able to score...but will they be able to lock down on the defensive end when it's called for. wut
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Biyombo looks worse than Chuck Hayes on offence. That's cause he is.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 That's cause he is. guy also fouls at a historic rate.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Can't stand it when Casey leaves in his best players with 3 min left in a 20 point game.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 With this team, it is the opposite. I know they'll be better than last year, but I guess I just want to see is over an extended period before I believe it.
Caper Verified Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I know they'll be better than last year, but I guess I just want to see is over an extended period before I believe it. They will be better then last year. But so what? Has a team out of the top 5 or 6 at the start of the season ever won an NBA championship?

Has a team out of the top 5 or 6 at the start of the season ever won an NBA championship? There are a lot of steps between getting tossed in the first round and winning a championship. Actually winning a playoff round would be a nice improvement.

Has a team out of the top 5 or 6 at the start of the season ever won an NBA championship? They were top 5 the last 2 years if it makes you feel any better. If you want to root for a championship team I'd suggest stop following the raptors now because they most likely will never win one.
Caper Verified Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Google is your friend http://www.nba.com/playoffs2001/history/second_round_success.html?nav=ArticleList Rockets are the lowest with the 6th seed The question was rhetorical. The NBA is a very predictable league. Look at the Milwaukee Bucks? How are they best going to attempt to win an NBA championship? They are ranked mid pack in the league. What do they do? I'd say trade every single asset you have and tank....Hope to get the big stud that can actually win a championship. And that is probably the answer for about 15 teams right now. If you can't bring in the huge free agent or draft near the top. You have almost no chance to get good enough to win. I think a fundamental change in the NBA draft system would help. Really, in order to to win a championship, the 10th best team needs about as much help as the worst team. Don't get me wrong, the 10th best team is much, much better, but you are still about as far away in terms of winning a championship. Now a team like the T-Wolves can be primed huge in 5 years if they play their cards right. The Pacers, the Raptors, the Heat, Suns, ect, ect... will be rewarded for NOT tanking by spending the next 5 years right where they are at. Mid-pack after thoughts. I personally think every NBA team should get a top 5 pick every 6 years. Like you are on a slice of a wheel with 5 other teams that rotates around, giving you a different range every year. 1-6, 25-30, 7-12, ect. How the teams are picked within the slice... I don't know. Anyway, that's my idea to help fix the NBA.... But not sure if that would still help the year to year predictability.

Actually winning a playoff round would be a nice improvement. Doesn't really matter this year though because team is going to be a lot different next year. You pretty much have to pray to get a good FA wing player this offseason and that Lebron gets hurt in order to make it to the finals.

What does the Raps cap situation look like heading into this off-season. Does anyone think they'll be big players?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Ross gonna bait them into a long term deal and then will turn back into the laziest player in the league again.
