dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 So apparently the new d-league team is called raptor 905er... seriously
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 So how much cash do we have to spend and what holes do we have to fill? Amir and Lou??
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 I believe the cap is around 67M for next season while we're currently at 41M. We can offer a max contract to someone and still resign Amir. KLove and Carrol would be a dream off season. Wesley Matthews is also an ideal target, I doubt anyone will risk giving him a 3 year deal coming off an Achilles injury but I'd take a chance on him.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 2/10 for Amir would be a steal.. He's going to get at least 8 mil a year.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Also, rumours are Demar's going to ask for 25 mil a year after next season. Please trade him Masai...
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 10M/2 Years? Not gonna happen. As much as I love Amir, you can't rely on him as a starter - he breaks down way to easily.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Also, rumours are Demar's going to ask for 25 mil a year after next season. Please trade him Masai... Ewww, get rid of him then. That would be ludicrous if the Raptors gave him that type of money.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Some team probably will give him 20M+ a year with the cap going up. 20 point scorers are always overrated. Masai still has overall done a solid job here, other than not firing Casey yet

Likely will be a great buy this offseason and he would fit in terrific with the Raptors.

He's honestly a great player. I would take him over Aldridge every time. Him and KLove (or even Milsap) would put us back in the top 3 for the East.

Masai still has overall done a solid job here, other than not firing Casey yet I know. I hate empty 20 PPG players who don't contribute in any other of the offensive categories. I like DeMar but he isn't a franchise player to build your starting 5 around. He's more of a secondary, third piece. Even when he missed time this season, the Raptors played fine without him so he's replaceable. Still if he thinks he can get a max deal, then great! I hope he plays his best basketball in his contract year which would definitely help the Raptors a lot in 2015/2016.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 my dream offseason is Millsap and Matthews. Literally perfect fits for our current team Imagine a S&T with Demar for Middleton and sign those 2? Lowry/Matthews/Middleton/Millsap/JV could honestly be the best raptor team in franchise history. They still probably lose to the Bulls or Cavs but it's a good base and a team I would actually go out of my way to watch
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Not too excited about Matthews. Players usually don't come back the same after an Achilles injury.

Side note: Al-Farouq Aminu is scheduled to visit with New York, Boston, Portland, Toronto and New Orleans in the coming weeks. src: David Aldridge He would be an awesome bench piece
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Raptors are going to meet with Lamarcus Aldridge. Hmm...
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Yea he's a high volume, high usage big. Doesnt turn over the ball though with how much they ran the offence through him and attracts a lot of double teams. Solid defender and rebounder. Not a max player but I dont mind overpaying for a good player. Much rather pay him over Derozan. Millsap over both though
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 If Tristan Thompson is gonna get the max I guess LMA is a max guy now too lol. I don't see how an offense that includes Lowry, DD and LMA is supposed to work. Not nearly enough shots to go around. Hopefully if we do sign him that means that Demar's gone. Anyone have any trade scenarios for Demar?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Doesn't he take a lot of long twos? 25th in RPM this year with an injured thumb and 10th last year so he's a much better player than Derozan.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 25th in RPM this year with an injured thumb and 10th last year so he's a much better player than Derozan. I'm not sure on the validity of RPM (isn't it a kind of black box?) but I'm not questioning LMA. Just don't see the fit with the current lineup. If Ujiri has the balls to sign LMA, trade Demar, and fill out the rest of the roster, I'll be the happiest guy out there. Still curious on a Demar trade, though.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 DeRozan to Lakers for Clarkson and a first? Geogre Karl and the Kings are pretty stupid maybe they like Derozan and a bunch of picks for Cousins. Just the fact that a legit NBA max player would consider signing here is a positive.

Still curious on a Demar trade, though. I haven't studied the Raptors play calling enough to know if this actually works but it sounds right given what I remember. Read it on realgm: "He and Derozan are actually perfect for each other out of the staggered screens/horns sets the Raptors have liked to run in the past. Undefeated could probably talk more about this but the threat of Derozan's drives would set up more clean looks for LMA and LMA's shooting would allow Derozan to drive out of the horn with even more regularity and find other shooters. A proper 3 and D SF who was super efficient would be nice." Now, that said, I would want to move Demar anyway because he is going to demand 20+ million on his new deal.

I'd much rather have Paul Millsap though and he would cost less.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Derozan to Nets, Lopez to Celtics (S&T), Smart and stuff to the Raptors? He's superfluous as is in Boston. I'd rather have Millsap but we haven't heard anything on that. Better than Tristan f***ing Thompson.
