jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Big men don't mature at this early of an age - they aren't the same as wings. If Jonas is the same player he is now at 25 or 26, I would agree with you. But I think he's fine as the 3rd or 4th best player to make a run. In fact he was one of our better player in the playoffs Jonas at 25-26 will be on his first free agent contract. He's a RFA end of the next season and teams will look at his big body, age, the fact that he's a solid center on a winning team and throw a 4 year, 50 million dollar contract at him. He did have that one year playing over seas as well so it's basically his 4th year playing professional ball. He just looks like the same player he was when he got here. I personally hate when they just throw the ball into him at the high post because he's only got that one move - where he holds onto the ball and kills about 4-5 seconds off the shot clock, goes right and puts up a hook shot. If some team is willing to give up an all star big for him, I say cash him in now and let them pay his next contract. That's just me though - I'd love for him to start dominating tomorrow and make me look dumn

Some of this might be due to fatigue as he played a lot of ball in the summer. Too early to judge.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Pretty funny... Brandon Knight missed a wide open layup to potentially win a game vs Brooklyn with no time left in regulation.. This was the bench reaction: http://giant.gfycat.com/NegativeQuarterlyErmine.gif
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Google Marcin Gortat and get back to me. Big men take longer to develop. I see no reason to worry about his development. On another note... anyone getting worried about Amir? He looks awful physically... If JJ wasn't hurt I would seriously consider sitting him for a week or so. Looks like he can barely move out there. I think Amir played pretty good. He doesn't look like the ankle is 100% by any means but he is still a great defender and efficient scorer. His opponents are only shooting 43% against him which is very good for a post defender.

SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Ya and if you check out Ross' numbers, he really stands out. JJ is allowing 41.8% and Ross is sitting at 40.2%
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Had no idea the Raps were 27th in APG. That is shockingly low.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 JJ apparently has the walking boot off and should be back pretty soon. If he can somehow find a way to play in the Cleveland game it'd be huge.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Had no idea the Raps were 27th in APG. That is shockingly low. Not really when you think about their offence. They get to the line a lot which will bring the assists down. They also run a lot of post ups for Demar and high screens for Kyle.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Yea, a lot of games this year they have done iso ball. Also usually don't get assists when they throw it into Jonas on the low block
Caper Verified Member Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I'm still trying to grasp how important Chuck Heyes was to the win the other night. Did he ever shut it down on D. People laugh on here when he gets playing time. But he really has a role in certian situations.
immature Verified Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 JV having a good first quarter.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 37 points in the 1st Q is damn impressive. Especially when Chuck Hayes is on the floor for some of that.
