burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Easy to say in retrospect, Hayes could just as easily have been getting killed on the glass while missing awkward wide open floaters 2 feet away from the basket. It worked. You have to give Casey props for that.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I will tip my cap to Hayes, he played really well down the stretch
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I will tip my cap to Hayes, he played really well down the stretch Too bad he's going to play every fourth quarter now.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Solid Win, but Memphis clearly ran out of Gas at the end of the game. It should be pretty obvious by now that we need to upgrade our front court.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Raps stole that game. Memphis has complete control until the last 5 min of the 4th and Raps get the victory.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Ross came up big in the 4th, he deserves a lot of credit for the win.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 We really need to upgrade on Hansbro. Hopefully Bebe will be ready by next season I';d prefer to upgrade one of the starting forwards. I love Amir but he can;t play the 33 minutes our team needs every game anymore. his body just can't handle it. Jonas is okay but Casey clearly doesn't feel comfortable with him out there. I honestly really want Hortford on this team, would give up Jonas easily for him.

He's a good player but isn't a superstar that will make this team a championship contender. Seem's like a treadmill move.

Or is it RFA

He's a good player but isn't a superstar that will make this team a championship contender. Seem's like a treadmill move. I think keeping Jonas is the treadmill move. He is what he is at this point, a great rebounder, efficient offensive player with a low usage and IMO a poor defender. From committing dumb fouls to allowing opposing big men to do whatever they want ( i.e Gasol the same basic hook shot 4-5 times in a row). Obviously Val isn't a weak link when he's out there but he isn't the type of big to put us over the hump. Hortford isn't quite either but we're probably only 1 piece away after that from being on the same level as the Bulls and Cavs. There are better players out there that would fit our team,.Gibson, Asik, Jordan all come to mind. Hortford though is the only one I can see being moved.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 UFA end of next season, same time Jonas would be a RFA.

Or is it RFA UFA in 2016. If he is healthy he is one of the best C/PF in the game. Not sure he is 100% healthy though. If he was here Raps would definitely be legit contenders in the EC but I wouldn't give up Jonas for him. Doubt ATL would trade him without getting back Jonas either. I'd offer expirings and the NYK/DEN 1st with our own 1st round pick but I really doubt ATL would do that. Maybe if they completely fall out of the race at the deadline.

If you don't give up Jonas I am not sure how that is a treadmill move.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Amazing win... Wish Ross had more confidence in his handles. He gives this team such a great additional option when he slashes and drives to the bucket. And once again Lowry shows that he is our closer.

Kid has barely stopped growing and you are calling it quits. glad you're not in charge. Basketball players statisticaly peak by their 3rd-4th years. 22 in basketball isnt 22 in baseball. I'm not calling it quits, I've never said he was a bad player, he just isn't or likely won't be a top Big man in the league

I'm not calling it quits, I've never said he was a bad player, he just isn't or likely won't be a top Big man in the league Google Marcin Gortat and get back to me. Big men take longer to develop. I see no reason to worry about his development. On another note... anyone getting worried about Amir? He looks awful physically... If JJ wasn't hurt I would seriously consider sitting him for a week or so. Looks like he can barely move out there.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 The same Marcin Gortat who was a beast defensively his entire career but stuck behind Dwight Howard? Two players who have similar builds don't just automatically become the same player.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Big men don't mature at this early of an age - they aren't the same as wings. If Jonas is the same player he is now at 25 or 26, I would agree with you. But I think he's fine as the 3rd or 4th best player to make a run. In fact he was one of our better player in the playoffs
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
