JV hasn't played very well....

Its all relative man. He can have his worst game of the season and he would still be more effective than Hanbrough.

As bad as the Raps played at times got to give them credit for making the game close. I think its fairly obvious that the team really needs to improve on the defensive glass. PP has had a rough start so far this year. Things the Raps have done very well is get to the line and taking care of the basketball. If the raps can consistently do those 2 things on offence this team will be very good.

Defence needs to be more consistent though. Seems like there is a switch and either everyone is active or its the opposite and its open look after open look.

I don't watch much basketball other than the Raptors and playoffs. But its hard to believe there are a lot of better coaches.

Byron Scott and Scott Brooks are much worse. Casey seems to struggle at in-game managing but every team's fanbase hates on their coach. I mean even Spurs fans criticize Pop...Basketball has so many plays that there will always be disagreements from personal bias. Its not like Casey is telling these guys to be terrible on the glass and miss free throws.

Against a team that makes Roy Hibbert look like Hakeem offensively, Jonas didn't even reach 30 minutes. Disgusting performance by Casey tonight.

Scott Brooks may be unorthodox at times but I think he's an overall decent coach. He believed in Westbrook when many people thought he took too many shots away from Durant and has created a system that allows both players to maximize their strengths.

Let's see how this team progresses throughout the season. I feel like they can be similar to Memphis before the Gay trade. Lowey Conoly , Gasol JV, DD Gay and Ross and that defensive stopper on Memphis I can't recall his name , I think are all comparable players. And that Memphis team was a good team in the West. Of course we don't have Randolph but amir brings a lot of intangibles too.

and Amir Johnson is a solid enough Zack Randolph impression (granted I don't watch Z-Bo much)

Z-Bo's one of my favourite players. Probably one of the 3 or 4 big men left in the game you can just dump the ball down to in the post. Elite rebounder as well without every jumping more than 4 inches

Scott Brooks has terrible in game management much like Casey does but it is worse. Honestly I am not sure Casey is the right coach to take this team to the next level but I am not going to say he is a god awful coach. He seems to be a great motivator and his defensive system is pretty good but like Brooks struggles in terms of game management. All I'm saying is no matter what coach is here people will complain about him...

I agree. Memphis is the much better team but if JV and Ross can take steps forward then they can be a similar team. Best thing for the Raps is Masai and his front office seem very smart and know what they are doing. I have full confidence in management to do what is right.

He's a tank, used to be able to get an odd 3 at times too, not sure if he still does that.

I'm worried about this team's defense. For it to be Casey's calling card, I'm surprised at how they've been declining on that end. If you look at the the last quarter of last year and into the playoffs, there has been a noticeable drop off and tonight, they were just terrible.

One of the Raptors broadcast team members made the comment that they're trying to beat teams with talent right now rather than outworking them which is 100% true. It's a team that clearly has a switch

All three games have been like this. He sticks with his 2nd unit for way too long at times.... You aren't going to be able to get out of those types of holes vs good teams.

And again, his hatred for Jonas shows through.

If they really had a switch, I would have thought they would turn it on in the playoffs.

I do not understand why he keeps giving minutes to Hayes. He's an OK defender but they're playing 4 vs 5 on the offensive end with him.

They played hard during the playoffs and did a good job defending, not sure what that has to do with anything they've done this year but ok.

And Hayes is their 5th big guy who's played a grand total of 11 minutes in 3 games when their starting PF was out, not sure why that actually bothers you

They did not defend well at all in the playoffs and Hayes played 12 minutes yesterday and jv only 29.no reason even on a back2back for that when jv has only averaged like 25 minutes a game.

Last years' decline in defense matters because its a large enough sample size to be concerned it will continue into this year when most of the roster is the same.

lol their defendingwas fine, Im not sure what games you were watching.

And Hayes played 12 minutes in a game that they did not have their starting power forward and his replacement (Patterson) was horrible in every facet of the game, as he has been in all 3 games. Hayes is fine as the 5th big man on the team, who else is Casey supposed to play

Dude they had a 111 defensive rating against Brooklyn, how is that good defending?

And Jonas should have played at least 35 minutes yesterday to cut Hayes minutes in half because he is a complete negative on the floor.

There were a couple.of games that Johnson lit them up and the nets put up really good numbers thst im going to assume.inflated the numbersbut overall.in the series I thought they did a good job. The nets did a good.job.of.taking care.of the ball and not beating themselves but I really dont want to argue over something trivial as this. But as for Hayes, every team has players like him on their bench. Its the 3rd game of the season on a back to back, there wasn't a reason for Jonas to.play extended minutes.and Hayes was the best option that night besides hansbrough to fill in

lol This is gonna be a fun season.

I was screaming at my TV during this whole game. Loss completely sits on the shoulders of demar and kyle IMO.

How the f*** does your starting backcourt missing 11 fts. Also Amir was clearly missed especially since Patterson has been pure garbage to start the season

Yeah I frankly haven't seen much of the other side of the switch since around the 65 game mark of last year. I believe this team has a lot more to offer on both ends of the court but it's more of an issue of coaching than effort. Casey hasn't developed a system in which the team feels confident in which causes inconsistency in the way the offence is run each night. The best teams have players who understand their role and and then thrive within the task their given. Nobody on this team has a clearly defined role except to a degree Amir. And because of this the offence resorts to guys creating for themselves and taking low percentage shots.

What do you guys think of LouWill so far? He looks awful IMO. Just plys ISO-ball and has no interest in getting his teammates involved. Offense seems to die whenever he's on the floor.

I just don't understand why they don't run some plays for Jonas.

They guy was shooting over 60% down the stretch last year. The critics will claim "Jonas fumbles the ball constantly in the post".... Well yes... because he gets almost no touches. How is he supposed to get comfortable.

It's just perimeter play right now. Very frustrating.

He's been fine and it's only been 3 games. If we want to look at short samples, Greivis was awful the first two games, played well against Miami though

Jonas getting 3 LESS mpg than last year thus far. Extremely frustrating to watch

Casey seems like Randy Carlyle for the Raptors.

Christ is RealGM a terrible board. People on that site live and die every f***ing possession. As for that post what else did people expect? 90% of pro athletes cheat...Blue Jays are probably no different...

I mean the look at Tony Parker and Steve Nash..Good team players still cheat on their wives lol.

It's trivial because you're wrong? You're the one who asked if I watched the games. Well I did and they looked bad defensively to me and all the metrics back that up. You're just making excuses for them to justify that what you thought you saw was right.
