eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Casey just needs to play him. Ujiri needs to get rid of Hayes ASAP because you know damn well he'll be cutting into Jonas' and Bebe's minutes at C.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 As I expected, the union is pissed about the Lebron/Wade/Bosh pay cut talk: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2014-07-03/nba-free-agency-carmelo-anthony-lebron-james-heat-knicks-pay-cut-nbpa-union?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Makes it more difficult for the Heat to keep the big 3 together.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 The torotni media makes it out to be like he's going to be some perennial all star when he didn't improve at the second year. He isn't talented enough that you make him untouchable for a top 5 player in the league ( arguably at least) Not all players improve in a linear fashion year after year. This is a 21 year old center who averaged 14/11 on 57 TS% per 36... what more do you want from a second year player? I would have no problem trading him for Love if it came with an extension, but not for only one year.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I just saw on the Sportsnet bottomline that the Kings signed Darren Collison for 3/16, I like the deal but will they use him primarily as a backup? Could this mean they are considering moving Isaiah Thomas?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I just saw on the Sportsnet bottomline that the Kings signed Darren Collison for 3/16, I like the deal but will they use him primarily as a backup? Could this mean they are considering moving Isaiah Thomas? Read a few rumors about Thomas going to Detroit. I didn't get to watch many Kings games this year but he looks to be an incredibly efficient player. I don't know why Sacramento wouldn't keep him. A Thomas/Collison combo would be pretty good.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 From what I've read, Thomas can't really guard because of his size. Either gets shot over or cant defend the post. Kings prefer him as a 6th man who can light up the scoreboard and it seems like they would keep him if he was willing to accept that role
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I wasnt sure how I felt about 6 million before but I really like it now. Especially with Amir's chronic ankle issues, PatPat is really valuable to the Raps

Especially with Amir's chronic ankle issues, PatPat is really valuable to the Raps True. The difference between 5 & 6M is negligible. It's not a bad deal. I really like 2Pat. Don't love it but I'll give it a solid B+.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Amir will need to take a hometown discount next year if he wants to stay though. Something around 4-5M a year. In honor of Patman: http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/229/files/2014/01/Patrick-Patterson-steal-and-game-winning-shot.gif
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I don't see it happening. He is being paid 7 right now and he's certainly proven he's worth that much going forward. Use his $7 million to try and acquire another star
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Pretty great offseason for Masai so far. We have no terrible contracts moving forward and our core is young and hungry. If NYY/Denver suck hard next year (which looks very possible) we could be potentially adding a top 5 pick to this current core. Scary.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I think we're still 11M under the luxury tax threshold.... Leaves for room for Vasquez around 5M a year and maybe a vet SF like VC? That would be pretty nuts.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I'm expecting to see a Patty Mills deal for GV. 3/12 and then have 3.5 mil left to get us a SF bench piece

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Ryan Wolstat ✔ @WolstatSun Follow At this point, expecting Vasquez to get $4.5M or so from Raptors a year. Whatever the number, he will be returning and could happen soon 1:45 PM - 4 Jul 2014 Ryan Wolstat ✔ @WolstatSun Follow @Raptors_Watch That he'll be back? 99%. The contract number is a guess, could be higher. Doubt it is lower. 1:47 PM - 4 Jul 2014

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 GV is a core piece in accomplishing #KD2016. Love this signing. Masai getting s*** done. Keeps the core in tact and we still apparently have a little wiggle room to sign someone else (VC?)
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 So it appears GV is going to be 3/15 (give or take a bit). I'm hoping for VC but if not, I am all aboard the Aminu train

I'm hoping for VC but if not, I am all aboard the Aminu train Vince would get minutes here. I don't think Ross is ready to take on 30+ minutes a night. It'd be a good fit for him IMO.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 VC would be the icing on the cake of a fantastic offseason. At this point in his career he would be a great role player and is still capable of having some big games.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Keeping the core together was a wise decision and based on the fact that these guys chose to come back says a lot about where this team is. Toronto's rep is growing across the NBA and hopefully some key FA's will take note in the coming seasons.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Not to mention the whole core is tied up for 3 years + three first rounders in the next two seasons + 15+ million in cap for next season when we are already established a 45+ win team. Future looks very good

Future looks very good And it's only been ONE year... Just over a year ago we had Bargs and Gay still on the roster. Masai can pretty much do no wrong at this point.
