Tuco Verified Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Back-to-back series losses against AL E rivals. WTF Ya 2-5 roadtrip after a great winning streak stings. Looks like were becoming the AL East whipping boy.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 No you can't, well you can move EE to 1st base Thole is out of the game and the pitcher has to hit in the DH slot. So it wasn't an option. Yeah obviously a lot of us didn't know that. It's true. Sucks.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Lol @ the NHL draft. The booing is starting to get to Bettman. "I have a trade to announce, do you want to hear it?" (sarcastic voice like he's talking to a 5 year old)
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 2014 FA Catchers Henry Blanco (42) John Buck (33) Jesus Flores (29) Ramon Hernandez (38) Brian McCann (30) Jose Molina (38) Dioner Navarro (30) Wil Nieves (36) Miguel Olivo (35) Ronny Paulino (33) Brayan Pena (32) A.J. Pierzynski (37) Humberto Quintero (34) Carlos Ruiz (35) Jarrod Saltalamacchia (29) Kelly Shoppach (34) Chris Snyder (33) Geovany Soto (31) Kurt Suzuki (30) - $8.5MM club option with a $650K buyout Yorvit Torrealba (35) Let's bring Molina back for another go 3/4 of those would be better than JP Upgrade 2B to Utley to replace JP's home runs Replace JPA with a solid defensive catcher Please

He has no bat, and is something like 2nd or 3rd behind JPA in passed balls this year. McCann or Ruiz would be nice though!
Cello Verified Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Are you surprised? Not at all. But I expected a split vs Farrell's team.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I bet management doesnt even think Catcher is a issue. They seem totally blind to JP's shortcomings.

He can break in Jimenez also.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Will a reporter ask Gibbons if he regrets using Cecil on Thursday instead of Oliver or McGowan? Probably not.

I don't think so What they say in public (JP is our guy!) is not necessarily what they really think in private And it's a known fact that AA was shopping JP last year mid season - other GM's confirmed it

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 And why is it ok to bring in Janssen with 2 men on, but not with no one out. Gibbons was horrible in this series, made a fool of himself. This
ZaunCherry Verified Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 lol remember him when he scored from first and passed out on home plate meaningless internet points for anyone who can find the clip

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Molina might be the slowest player in all of baseball. Maybe Bonifacio can run for him to 1B, it'll be the only way he's useful.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Ya thats when we had Travis d'arnaud. True Of course, D'Arnaud has yet to play more than 1/2 a season and not one MLB game
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Ya thats when we had Travis d'arnaud. Don't forget AA also traded away Carlos Perez. Anyway...
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Funny how Gibbons managed the bullpen this series, it makes me think he might've been experimenting or something.
Knights4Cup Verified Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I love how people think adding this player or that player will do anything. The team does not exercise the fundamentals of baseball and haven't for years well before the Anthopoulos era. They have the wrong people in this organization from the front office, to employing coaches who don't force the players to know how to do simple things like buting or getting on base, etc. On a random day, what is the average baseball IQ in the batting order? 40? Without any trades that hurt the farm system in the off-season, this team is probably in the same position record wise. This is truly a pathetic organization from top to bottom
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Don't forget AA also traded away Carlos Perez. Anyway... Ya you dont trade away that many catcher prospects unless you feel the young ML catcher you have is really good. The Jays FO is obsessed with players with power so the fact they really like JPA isnt suprising. I really dont know where AA is going to go from here because its obvious this team just isnt good enough. Better then last year? No doubt, but not good enough to be a contender.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 John Gibbons "The most frustrating loss of the year."

MolsonBlue66 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Why did Gibbons ph for Kawasaki with Bonifacio ???? Kawasaki gets on base and his obp is so much better then Bono. Kawasaki has been clutch in key situations so why would Gibbons go to the bench ???? We have our best player back in Reyes but we lose more games with him in the line up go figure.

Kawasaki has good at-bats, but he's had terrible results vs lefties. So has Boni, but he's been marginally better than Kawasaki and gains the platoon advantage. It's a defensible (but meh) move.
