fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Who goes down for Reyes? So Oliver/Cecil/Loup/Perez are safe and so is Wagner.... who goes down then? McGowan if you ask me. Lawrie Update Very good news on Lawrie! Also Kawazaki is slated to stay in the majors Santos Update
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 McGowan to the DL, guy has been healthy for far too long.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Santos using Delabar program, me likey. Thanks for the updates.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 McGowan to the DL, guy has been healthy for far too long. lol, sad, mcgowan has all kinds of potential but I don't think his arm can sustain being a MLB pitcher.
dmrich28 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I think McGowan has only pitched 3.1 innings in all of June, so ya, he's been a waste of a spot too. I still think if he's healthy he's more help than a totally busted Melky at this point. Even if it's just in a mop up role they use Dustin at for now.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Why DL and not DFA him? Guy is owed 3mil, not sure many will claim him with that price tag with all the questions around him.
dmrich28 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Why does it "gotta be McGowan" ? His last outing he was pretty electric gave up a meaningless HR but he's barely pitched at all. If you DFA him, he'll be claimed and gone forever. You could DL him but why? if he's not hurt. Melky isn't helping an is a legit DL choice and Kawasaki has options. These are the 2 options they should be looking at.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Right on Spanky, it's gotta either be Melky or a trade.

His stuff is some of the best around when he's on
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Melky to the DL I was also thinking that, but the way it was worded, "Gibbons says Jays have "pretty good idea" who will be dropped to make room for Reyes" makes you think a DFA/Option is in place. I also asked Ben-Nicholson Smith this question and he gave me a smart answer, "If the Jays thought that Melky needed a DL stint, they wouldn't have waited until Reyes to get activated"
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Im hoping trade... We need another starter or bat. Wishfull thinking. It's probably more like - AA has a trade target. There's a 20-30% chance the deal happens. In the meantime he delays and delays roster decisions until he knows if its going to happen or not. That happens probably a lot more than we know.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Well 1.5 million per is peanuts and DFA'ing McGowan is stupid, unless they make up a phantom injury and DL him. It wouldn't be to save $ but to free up the space IF they see something in him they don't like. But after all they've invested in him, I can't see them DFAing him after 3.1 IP.
Sparky12 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Yea wonder if they will ever give McGowan a chance to pitch, still has unreal stuff
Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Don't think it's melky, if they thought he needed a DL sting they would not have waited for reyes to return.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Well Smith is a f***ing idiot than. Wooooooooooooooooah, he's actually really good He worked at MLBTR and his SNet articles are on point
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 WTF?? They've held onto him all this time to pitch 3.1 innings and his stuff is nasty, he'd be snatched up on waivers in a NY minute. If they do that, AA needs to shove his head up his ass. Don`t you worry, AA`s head is firmly up his ass already lol.

Could explain the sudden Reyes call-up when he was thought to need a few more days to rehab.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Melky to DL or trade are the best options. Oliver for Profar, come on AA, do it, you won't regret it!

The_DH Verified Member Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Not sure who would take a chance with the money owed. Imagine you're a gm that picks him up and his arm explodes two innings later? I don't think many gms would want that on their record.
