Notes:

Rays:

  • This isn't the same Matt Moore that the Jays saw the first time in the Trop. Coming into that game he owned a 1.95 ERA, and a very low .183 BABIP and a decent 2.16 K:BB ratio (41Ks vs. 19BBs). Ever since that start though, he's owned a 5.98 ERA, much higher .326 BABIP and a much worse 1.35 K:BB ratio (31Ks vs. 23BBs) in 9 starts.
  • The back-to-back-to-back of Loney, Myers and Fuld was the 2nd in franchise history. The first occurred in 2008
  • Young Rays reliever Alex Torres gave up no earned runs in his first 20 innings this year. Last night's fielder's choice RBI by Jose Bautista is the first earned run allowed by Torres.

Jays:

  • Jose Reyes will be activated for the series finale in the Trop. Gibby has hinted earlier that Kawazaki can start 2B and that he's willing to send down a BP arm. Reyes has hit .414 (12/29) in his rehab assignments in A and AAA.
  • Adam Lind is hitting .354 with 10 big flys and 27 ribbies since May 1st
  • Mark Buehrle's last start in Tampa was one to forget, after having a huge 7 run inning allowed to the Tampa bats. Ever since that start though, he's turned things around dramatically. He's had 8 starts since and put up a great 2.65 ERA and 37 strikeouts in a total of 51 innings pitched

Getting it done early today eh fatcow? Good idea, there were some guys here looking to bust your kneecaps earlier...

if you accidentally started a losing streak, you may need to start your own message board fatcow... :P

Really can't wait to see Reyes' name in the SS spot next GDT hopefully we get on the board early and don't take our foot off the gas and go into Wednesday with a chance to take 2

I usually get it done 4/5 PM :P. Today I have no work and I kept my promise - had it ready without the lineups and notes since last night. Updated them and posted them at the normal time :)

Why so early? Another jinx. Yesterday, you went AWOL. The Jays hitters followed suit. Today you overcompensated for past failures. The Jays will strike out 27 times in a row as a desperate attempt of their own overcompensation.

It's not early!

I had no option in yesterday's GDT! It was the first game in 2 years that I haven't followed in any sort

I can't wait to see what Gibby will do for the lineup with Reyes slotting back to leadoff

Did you guys notice that Bonifacio isn't on the lineup and also isn't on the bench? That lineup card on facebook only shows Thole and Kawasaki on the bench.

Edit: Nevermind!

Though, don't they usually have a LHH | SH | RHH section?

The one that fatcowxlive just posted above.

I don't really understand why Reyes couldn't be activated for today's game. Bautista has got some big hits but we really have got nothing out of the top of order for the better part of a month. We really need that spark at the top of the lineup. This is probably the biggest game of the season... we really need this series in Tampa.

It likely has something to do with the corresponding move, though other options are "they want him to spend less time on the turf" and "arranging travel was a bitch"

@ShiDavidi: #BlueJays manager John Gibbons says they've "got a pretty good idea" of who goes down for Jose Reyes after game. Guarded about who it is

@Wilnerness590: Gibbons confirmed Lawrie starting rehab assigment, could be ready to rejoin #Bluejays in 2 wks. Also thinks Kawasaki would be fine at 2B.

important to get back in the win column after the streak ending imo, so the doubt that the streak was an aberration and not a sign the jays would continue to make a move and play good baseball.

switch hitters usually have their names on both sides.

I agree, losing or getting swept this series and all of a sudden doubt creeps up if the streak was just an aberation. We win this series and still have a lot of momentum. Besides I don't think the rays are that good of a team, not a great lineup and their starters have been struggling.

Sounds like the DL to me.

Melky to the DL would be the best move. Davis can fill for a couple weeks. If they keep putting Melky out there like they are he won't be standing letting alone playing come late August.

He isn't doing anything to help right now and it's only getting worse. Let him get healed for down the stretch.

YEah he's not exactly hitting.....Davis and his speed can cause havoc for a few weeks.
