I've listened to Toronto sports radio, I don't want to listen to that either.

Also, he wasn't quoted on Gibbons so it was likely "Gibby's done a very good job lately" or something to that effect, which can't be argued with too much (though, I'm in the "managers don't make a huge difference as long as they're not bunt crazy, can't-manage-the-bullpen-worth-s*** types" camp)

The coolest thing about that article was that it was in The The USA Today.

When you're 27-0 and the only undefeated team in baseball when your pen inherits a lead, the manager has to get some credit for pulling the right strings.

"I don't blame people for being upset," Anthopoulos said. "It's sports. The only way you don't get criticism is to win."

How does this = "AA doesn't want to hear your s***"?

Good for him. There are different types of s*** people say.

I never once blamed Gibbons. In fact I have repeatedly said that Gibbons was a good choice, I like Gibbons, and if everyone else is fired, from Beeston on down to the last scout and intern stats boy, if AA and every last secratary is gone... John Gibbons should stay.

Controversial view but I want to make sure I am on the record for this. Gibbons is a good guy. I don't like Beeston, Gaston. I am unsure of AA, mainly because I don't know if he has the balls to stand up to Beestona and Gaston if they suggest stupid moves.

But I like Gibbons. He's not responsible for any of the bad stuff, and I think he's done a great job managing.

Remember the days with Cito? He seemed to always leave that pitcher in there one batter to long. I remember screaming at the TV, hoping he would take a pitcher out. That just hasn't happened this year.

Two days ago the situation called for Cecil to come in... but he's thrown a lot lately and Oliver hasn't.... Was fully expecting Gibby to play it safe and bring in the much more volatile Oliver... but he made the right move.

He's pulled all the right strings with the pen.

he's so full of s*** that he tried to temper expectations. He doesn't want those expectations back on this team as it makes his job more difficult as the deadline approaches.

This was from his interview with RG in March talking about why add Dickey at such a high price after already adding 2 starters:

"We were better. We were better no doubt. I still was uneasy with the rotation and it wasn’t about adding a No. 3 starter a No. 4 starter. It wasn’t about adding just one more guy with innings. It was about being able to add someone that would slot everybody down a peg and obviously adding someone like R.A. up at the top and now all of a sudden the rotation looks so much more complete with him going right at the front of it. And again contractually he fit with the core salary-wise. So all those things fit in. We paid a steep price. It’s like we talk about just like in free agency. You don’t mind paying a little bit more if you feel like it’s the final piece. I’d say the same thing in a trade. You don’t mind paying a little bit more if you feel like it’s that one piece that’s going to push the aggregate sum over the top"

"you feel like it's the final piece" yeah that's not sending the runaway train off the tracks at all. I don't blame him at all, part of his job but he's now trying to reel things back in again. Make the Jays look like that underdog again.
