Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 2013 July Johnson starts (5 games): Jays outscored 38 -17 2012 July Romero starts (6 games): Jays outscored 40 - 4 (That's right, 4 runs scored in 6 Romero starts in July of 2012). Both players have eerily similar (awful) stats, but how do you expect not to go 0-6 with your offence can only manage 4 runs in 6 straight starts.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Nobody gives a f*** about wins/losses 40-4 in run support is all I'm saying.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 That doesn't say anything about how he pitched I'm just trying to look at another angle. I never said I was defending Romero's pitching. But getting zero offence in 4 straight starts has to piss a guy off. Still 24-4 in run support if you take out Romero's 8 ER and 6 walks in 1.1 IP against Oakland in a 16-0 final score. Maybe things are different if he's given a chance to win by his offence.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 They don't even have similar stats Romero K/9: 6.17 Romero BB/9: 5.22 Johnson K/9: 9.20 Johnson BB/9: 3.30 Johnson xFIP 3.64 Romero xFIP 4.86 Ok, you got me. I've been out-stated. I still think 4 runs in 6 starts is worth noting.
Save Dtieb Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Maybe the 0 offense is because he brings the team down with his s***** outings Well if you look at the game logs, 2 of his starts were quality. And 1 was decent enough. Jul 25 vs OAK L 16-01.1 4 8 8 0 6 1 2 5 66 14 9 L(8-7) - 5.75 Jul 18 @ NYY L 6-0 6.0 12 6 6 1 2 2 12 13 97 29 24 L(8-6) - 5.22 Jul 13 vs CLE L 1-0 6.0 6 1 1 1 2 6 10 7 95 25 60 L(8-5) - 5.03 Jul 7 @ CHW L 2-0 6.0 4 2 2 1 3 2 12 7 105 25 55 L(8-4) - 5.22 After those 2 quality starts with zero run support, he fell apart.
KSaw Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Just go look at some video. Romero lost all command and walked the World. JJ has been tipping pitches and it's been identified and is being fixed. Nothing wrong with JJ other than a 3-5 inch release point differential on his breaking balls to his fastballs post triceps injury. He had it mostly matched up last night. When 49% of your pitches are flat 4-seam fastballs, try to succeed when your slider, change and curve are being released from a different slot. No one has been fooled for weeks and they've been teeing off. JJ just needs to match his release, add some more 2-seamers and sliders and he'll be fine. Like to see that 4-seam rate drop to about 40%, maybe even 37-38%.
MrMariusz Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 1IP 3H 4ER 2BB lol Im tuned into the game. Romero stinks yet again. He might not even be a regular starter at triple A level if he continues like this.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 At least he is staying in the game... grinding it out.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Sad story this Romero Never was there a tale of more woe, than Ricky Romero-o
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Never was there a tale of more woe, than Ricky Romero-o Shakespeare and baseball don't mix lol I miss Ricky. He'd be so nice to have in the rotation. Assuming, you know, he didn't f***ing suck.
flafson Verified Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 JA Happ was pretty good after the 2nd inning today, if he keeps this up... Romero who? But then again, i wouldn't mind having RR back.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I thought RR had a good outing. He fell a part and brought it back together.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I thought RR had a good outing. He fell a part and brought it back together. Started off pretty terribly but at least he improved and pulled it all together, something Romero's obviously struggled with. Yay silver linings I guess
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Can someone at least ask Rima Fakih if she would consider taking him back. Maybe if they just had one last lunch where they can end things on good terms... it might help things out. Didn't he break up with her? (On a side note, she was Miss U.S.A. not Miss America, that mistake is all over this thread).
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Started off pretty terribly but at least he improved and pulled it all together, something Romero's obviously struggled with. Yay silver linings I guess I don't understand why he doesn't get converted to relief. He's too volatile to find success as a starter and even if he returned to form, Joe Maddon has let the cat out of the bag that all you have to do to beat him is load up on LHH and exploit his reverse splits (which were there pretty much the whole time, they just weren't exploited).

I didn't even realize the difference. I'm guessing Miss USA is the slut version? She also had a failed wrestling career. She was on the WWE reality show Tough Enough.

She was on the WWE reality show Tough Enough. Miss U.S.A. is a property of Donald Trump and is a qualifier for the Miss Universe pageant. It doesn't have a talent competition and it favours a more "glam" look (read into that what you will). Romero's old flame was a bit of a train wreck. Why he's so tore up about it is beyond me. Must have been a first love or something.
