Listened to Jeff Blair on 590 and someone asked about trading for players. Blair said he can guarantee that if the team is still competitive by the trade deadline, Rogers will give AA a green light to go after big pieces, the caller was asking about Cliff Lee and Blair said he can guarantee that AA will go and knock some tires even about Cliff Lee. Money is not an issue he said.

He said that Rogers are looking at the ratings and they been good when we were losing and they been amazing for the past two weeks. More than that, now that NHL is about to end, ratings will sky rocket even more and Rogers will do everything in their power to make sure it continues, that means adding a big piece and compete.

More than we could afford to give them. Plus Lee's salary is too much for us.

I'd forgotten the details. Whoopie.

11:$11M, 12:$21.5M, 13:$25M, 14:$25M, 15:$25M, 16:$27.5M club option ($12.5M buyout)

option becomes guaranteed if Lee 1) is not on the disabled list at end of 2015 season with injury to left elbow or left shoulder, and 2) has 200 IP in 2015 or 400 IP in 2014-15

limited no-trade protection (may block trades to 21 clubs each season)

Where has this forum been all my life? I've been looking for an active Jays board for years, this one never popped up on my google results until today. Is it new?

~65 odd posts in a day? Motherf***er you better not be chasing my pace. I had 120 posts after the first day lol.

You seem pretty f***in' cool though, so welcome.

That's a lot of money for any pitcher, especially one entering his mid 30's. The only way the Jays get Lee is that they move Buehrle and they don't give up much in terms of prospects. I'm sure the Phillies are looking for a package of top prospects if they decide to move Lee. I just don't see it happening, and I wouldn't want the Jays devoting $25 million of their payroll towards a pitcher in his mid 30s.

It's OK. Static GIF's are probably another 12% of the reason I like this place.

My bold prediction:

AA acquires Justin Morneau at the trade deadline

Prior to this he has EE moved permanently to 3B and Lawrie to 2B

And where does this leave Lind? Unless you mean EE moved to 3B

Yes typo. I meant Edwin @ 3B.

And I don't endorse the idea. Too many 1B/DH guys with poor positional flexibility.

I don't endorse it either, won't stop him from giving up Osuna lol.

It's so sad to see Morneau these days... 100 wRC+. I miss 2010.

I did but never heard Morneau's name mentioned

And I'd still rather see Bautista at 3B over Edwin, IF Lawrie goes to second.

Problem is Gose is hitting all of .221 in Buffalo :(

At the end of when segment he said Morneau's name as a guy he could see AA going after. I also agree with Zaun and dont think Lawrie would be able to stick at 2nd.

I personally think it makes zero sense and Morneau is crap nowadays.

Ew I just looked up his 2013 stats though. Morneau has lost all his power. Still a passable OBP at .336 but only 3 HR and a .725 OPS despite full playing time.

I'd have to pass. He's declining sharply in his early 30's.

He's over 30? HE'S A VETRIN PRESENCE. GET ON THIS AA.

Sigh.

Jeff Blair has the biggest maple boner for Justin Mournea. Its getting kinda weird .............

It also bothers me how he talks all the time about stuff he hears "from within the organization" but can't quite tell you what he THINKS he knows. It just sounds like BS sometimes.
