Cano's first HR was off a slider..(possible curve..either way..off speed) so your instinct in the next AB is to throw him 3 straight sliders?

Jp is an idiot.

This? http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2013/05/16/blue_jays_catcher_jp_arencibia_needs_postseason_to_elevate_profile_griffin.html

“He’s done a great job,” Arencibia said of Posey. “The guy’s been an MVP. What he does behind the plate is obvious. Two World Series rings. We’re definitely capable of being there. I feel like I’m definitely capable of being that kind of guy to help the team get there. I just think they’ve done a good job of playing like a team, winning like a team, doing the little things.”

I dislike JPA as much as the rest here, but Morrow is a bit of a wimp, he nibbles like Buehrle out there, except Buehrle throws at 86 mph tops. Anyway....

lol not in that way. They were talking about the Mets and Buck asked "Where would the Mets be without Harvey?" and Tabby responded "Well he's 5-0 right? They'd be at 11-28" *cue Tabby and Buck laughing*

Remember that study JFaS did on Fangraphs about the Dickey effect and learned it spread to guys like Verlander? I guess that there could potentially be a Harvey-effect which could shed a couple more marginal WAR points off a couple of the other pitchers in the rotation, so it's not inconceivable that a couple more games could have gone the wrong way for them.

Batting JP fourth sure is one of the worst manager decisions I've seen in awhile.

While probably hyperbole your premise is fine, but is JPA 4th for a few games really the reason we suck? Really?

Delabar pitching lights out with his team down by 4, if it was a close game, he'd be walking the entire Yankee lineup.

You couldn't be more wrong. Morrow struggles because he ends up throwing s*** right over the plate.

Sad thing is, if they had a better approach against cano could be a different ballgame. Those wasted opportunities in the first few innings lost the game.

I should get back into that, just a lot of work. I've done Wakefield back to 2000, should post the results soon.

You're still working on it? Can't wait to read what else you've done. Maybe you should get Harvey in there too lol.

Too much of a small sample size for Harvey. The knuckleball effect does seem to be true, but it's a stretch to say that normal pitchers have an effect. Verlander just happened to be a good example. Price and Kershaw both were close to having no effect.

Meh, you never know. Regardless, Wakefield will be interesting, especially in how it impacted the Blue Jays in 2009.

I went overboard, shouldn't say he's a wimp. It's a lack of command whether he walks a guy or whether he hangs a pitch over the middle, but certainly pitch selection comes into play, it is what it is. He's got a lot of talent, but can't put it together for whatever reason. Certainly blame management for counting on guys like him. Anyway, this is a bad team period, the sooner they realize it the better. At the end of the day, they've scored 1 run against Phelps, way to go offense!

I agree he has command issues. If he's not walking people he's hanging a pitch over the middle.

Great.....

Maybe if Bautista wasn't so f***ing slow

LOL, if he at least realized he is slow maybe he wouldn't have been picked off 2nd in the 1st.
