G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Lots of good changes these last three days but the biggest to me has been Melky. Remember in spring training when he made contact almost every at bat, hardly struck out and hit the ball hard all over the field? Well he's doing it again, and hopefully he keeps it up. Huge potential with him hitting like this in the 2 spot.

Jonzo Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 It's nice to see him starting to come around. Actually, all of the Jays have been coming around the last few games. Hopefully this funk is over and we can make our way back to .500.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Didn't he have a s*** April 2012 and then crush it in May 2012?
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Also made a nice catch on Zobrist tonight when it wad already 4-1. Could have been a much different outcome had he not made that.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Didn't he have a s*** April 2012 and then crush it in May 2012? Yep 51 hits last May Broke the all time Giants record for hits in the month
OtisNixonFan Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Now if only we can get Lawrie to lay off the junk. Melky has looked great though, still a little susceptible to high heat, but who isn't?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Didn't he have a s*** April 2012 and then crush it in May 2012? Nope, he had a good April last year. Well he had an incredible May, but still had a good April.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 2-6 were in decent shape. If Lawrie gets going, the lineup will be pretty dangerous. I would like to see Lind at the 5th spot and then have JPA and Rasmus to follow. Load up the OBP guys ahead and these HR's will be multi run more often.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 @Wilnerness590: Melky Cabrera is now 10 for his last 22. #Bluejays #Jays

Arkadium Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Glad to see Melky found some of his old PEDs lying around... they are really working!

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 But he still hit .300/.360/.422 in April 2012. It's hard for anything to compare to hitting .429 for a whole month though lol. All of his hits in this hot streak have been right on the screws, no BABIP flukiness here. Huh, I wonder what was up with his horrible month. Haven't checked out his batted ball profile. If he can step it up, though, that'd be huge.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Those two games at DH seemed to do some good

Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 you gotta remember he missed almost the entire second half last year. maybe he was just a lil rusty in april, plus the pressure of a new team
Iluvbjs Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I've watched Melky quite a bit in years past and I see a drastic change in his balance and weight shift all of a sudden. I remember seeing him just a few weeks back and he had no stride whatsoever. It looks like at times, his swing is all upper body and his feet look like he is on ice, trying to keep from falling down. I watched him twice tonight where his stride through the ball was almost perfect. He has a strange swing that causes him to look ridiculous when his hips clear before his front foot touches down. When his timing is good, the stride of his front foot and his hip torque is in perfect rhythm. He is regaining his form and I think we can expect him to put up some pretty good numbers this month.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 To win you basically need your 1 & 2 guys getting on base a good chunk of the time. Solo bombs don't win games.
Iluvbjs Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I wish Colby could learn to make more contact because his value as a n0. 2 guy would skyrocket. Melky, when he heats up would be quite useful to protect Encarnacion instead of big bad limp legged Adam Lind.
ScottGer76 Verified Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Also, a plus is Maicer is starting to hit a little.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 If Lawrie can heat up with the offense coming around, we could really see a turn around. We really need this right now.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 (edited) Lawrie needs to relax. a new regiment of decaf and he should be fine. Someone should stealthfully fill his Red Bull cans with Vitamin Water when he's not looking. Edit: I vote for Bonifacio to do it. If it doesn't work, then Lawrie might pummel him on to the 60 day DL. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Bautista quietly hitting .381/.516 in May. Shhh. Keep that on the down low. We need to sneak up on the Red Sox. Let them come at him.
