Caper Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Blue Jays top pitching prospect currently pitching.... 3 innings, one hit, 1k, 1bb and a great pickoff.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Miguel Castro (Better than Sanchez): 4 scoreless, walk, 2K's What's the book on Castro? He had decent numbers last year also and has a good frame at 6'5 190. Legit prospect?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Frank Viola? lol Miguelito Castro 6 Scoreless, walk, 3 K's
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Richard Griffin @RGriffinStar 1m Sanchez 5 IP; 4H; 3R; 2ER; 4BB; 4SO; 83Ps for #bisons. Again command issues. CH and CB up in zone. FBs pulled down to 1B side #bluejays
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 lol Yes. Sorry,i'm not up to par on some of the younger prospects. Where did we get him from?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 It's fine. He was signed as an IFA out of the Dominican a few years ago. Dominated the DSL last season, received late season promotions to GCL and Bluefield. Received an award for being the top player on the DSL Jays team..could argue he was one of the top pitchers in the league. He dominated EST this year and received an assignment to Vancouver, where he gets to face crappy 24 year old college hitters and he's predictably dominating. John Schneider Vancouvers manager says that he has the best slider in the entire organization, he's got a fastball that he can comfortably reach the high 90s. "Helium" is a good word that describes Miguel Castro. ............He touch 97 mph and he's better than Aaron Sanchez
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 How is his command? improved a lot I remember hate this guy greatly, but now i love him; the same case that Gregory Polanco.
Caper Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Bluejays top pitching prospect, lowers era to 1.15.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Bluejays top pitching prospect, lowers era to 1.15. Did Norris pitch today?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Ang, what % (percentage) of players in the DSL do you think are using a false age? lol The number has dropped considerably after the government partnered with MLB. Dominicans develop as a man at a later age.
Caper Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 He's talking about Frank Viola..30 year old knuckleballer His ERA actually went from 0.00 to 1.15. lol Capers back to his old tricks, I will say. He is definitely worth watching. As has a far greater chance of making the majors then many prospects after the 10 spot.
Caper Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Anthony Alford sighting at Bluefield. Got a hit. Anyone know how long he can stay?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Lol, I don't even know if Alford is top 50 anymore. What a waste.
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Alford has ZERO future in football, so the moment he realizes it's baseball or bust, he'll become an interesting piece. I know he loves football, but he can be a star on the diamond...
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Is that Luis Encarnacion? Dude is gonna be a stud.

CH and CB up in zone. FBs pulled down to 1B side #bluejays I don't mind this.... reasonably good numbers when he's off his game, 1 level below MLB If he finds command, Jays have a #2 or better

He's always going to have trouble throwing strikes in my mind.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Graveman? Awesome. We need to groom him in to a closer obviously.
43211234 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Chase DeJong had a nice start today. 1ER, 0BB, 8K in 6IP. Now an 18/2 K:BB ratio over his last 3 starts. Pretty solid prospect. Not a huge ceiling but could be a nice #4 starter.

Not a huge ceiling but could be a nice #4 starter. I don't like how many balls in the air he gives up. He gets some strikeouts, but not enough to justify the hard contact he allows. Will get in trouble at AA, if not at high-A, unless he improves.

High FB-out rate and don't possess the heat and/stuff to strike batters out. Youngs like Tirado-Labourt (K's) and Robson (GB-out) over DeJong 24/7
