As I said before, starting iteration of C’s lineup is prospect light, but ‘a bunch of drafted guys will joint us on road trip’ said John

Carl Wise has apparently signed and will be here in short order. He’ll play his natural position at 3B to begin with

Charlie Caskey@CharlieCaskey 1m1 minute ago

Jon Harris IS coming to Vancouver. How long he stays here is up to innings limits, where they want him to end up, etc etc

Charlie Caskey@CharlieCaskey 30s31 seconds ago

Nick Wells, Angel Perdomo, and Jake Brentz were all v close to making the team but were sent to Bluefield. Should be here at some point

(½) this is for @Mentoch specifically. Pentecost is on a throwing program, at about 75 to 90 feet right now. Is catching bullpens & hitting

Charlie Caskey@CharlieCaskey 7s7 seconds ago

(2/2) live pitching so doing everything but throwing (taking part in all other catching drills etc). Schneider said he hopes he’s only 2..

Charlie Caskey@CharlieCaskey 6s6 seconds ago

weeks away, but the best part??!! There is a chance he comes back to Vancouver to start with #BlueJays #Pentecost

Adonys Cardona was throwing great and was on his way to Dunedin but started feeling some pain late. They went in, removed a screw in his (½)

Charlie Caskey@CharlieCaskey 10s10 seconds ago

(2/2) in his elbow and had to inject some bone marrow and add in a metal plate. He’s basically out for another year

Went from a pretty meh squad to a very exciting one in a hurry! Wise is my sleeper for this draft; he's going to mash.

A.J. JIMENEZ

Blue Jays catcher prospect A.J. Jimenez is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery on his left wrist and could miss the remainder of the season.

If he goes on the 60 dl, the Jays will be able to take him off the 40 without losing him, something they should have done even when they did risk losing him. Four catchers on the 40 is not a good allocation of resources.

f*** this kid is a walking band aid.... Could of made a really good defensive catcher (bat not so much) if he could stay healthy.

Dang, could the hype train be for real?

Comment From John Havok:

With Matt Boyd who is dominating AA at age 24, but is only in his 3rd year of pro ball due to going on his Mormon mission prior to starting his career, does the age/level factor not really apply to him ? Second, have you heard anything from scouts that have him moving up from his pre-season 40 FV ranking?

Kiley McDaniel:

Just talked to a scout that saw him a few weeks back. His velo jumped this year from 88-92 t94 to 91-94 t96 and the solid average off-speed is now above average, sometimes flashing better. He signed for 75K as a senior from Oregon State who had his velo bump as a senior, then again two years later. Basically unprecedented as far as I know. He’s at least a high 45 FV now, probably closer to 50 FV. When the scout was telling me what he saw, I made him repeat everything because it was so hard to believe.

Wow. That would be fantastic is Boyd was really turning in a legit prospect. Basically a found wallet.

Or a password that your former employee left behind, but never stopped using...

Plus he's a China Doll, kid is really good defensively.

What are the chances that we ever see him behind the plate with Adonys Cardona pitching to him...

A million to one shot...a million to one. Frank Costanza.

Though I'm sure luck has been a contributing factor, the Blue Jays have killed it getting real value with senior signs under the new draft rules. Boyd and Graveman and Chad Girodo looks like he could potentially become a loogy.

Yeah, to get anything out of senior signees is huge.

Hoffman is s*** now

I wonder if guys just see the ball out of his hand well or if the command just isn't there and hes grooving FB down the middle but theres a lot of contact. 1K in almost 6 innings is pretty bad.

He could be like an Alvarez or Sanchez of guys who just throw hard cut give up lots of contact.

Who knows. Likely just command issues right now though. Trouble not grooving the FB; trouble getting the out pitches near the plate.

Tommy Hunter

What about him? Hunter was never a ranked prospect and only sat around 91 as a starter.
