Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 there seem to be a lot of prospects coming up - question is who may be dealt at trade deadline to pick up an extra piece
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 SRF seems to have zero control early on in the season judging by the box score. Wonder if they are making adjustments to his delivery.
strochez Verified Member Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Frustrating how many gifted arms have control issues in our system. I know every organization has them but these are some of our top guys... Sanchez, Smoral, SRF, Labourt, Tirado... It's relatively hard to draft almost exclusively highschool pitchers and sign 16 year old international prospect that will immediately throw strikes consistently, especially with the Jays preference for guys with great raw stuff.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Cordero just touched 101 and struck out the first 2 batters of the inning. He finished the 9th perfect.

GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 What kind of Velocity does Copeland have? He seems to be having a nice little start to the season out of the Bisons rotation.

43211234 Verified Member Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Chad Girodo has posted nice numbers out of the pen in his minor league career. He is very similar to Gravemen in terms of them both being college seniors from Mississippi State who were drafted in consecutive rounds and signed for $5000 to save money on the bonus pool. Girodo is looking like he could turn into a major league reliever and we all known what the return was for the deal Gravemen was packaged in. The Blue Jays seem to have really nailed it in the 2013 draft getting talent while still playing the bonus pool game.

Why didn't he advance this year in AA? 24 year old, repeating a year in Dunedin with his numbers?

Don't really know much about him outside of his stats and draft information. Hopefully he gets promoted mid-season. Also interesting that he threw 76 innings in 47 games last year out of the pen.

The K rate has come down, last year it was at ~30% and now it's hovering around ~24.5%. He won't ever be an elite plate discipline guy, I think that the ~24% is as low as you'll see it. Walks and ISO are up too. It's encouraging but I won't be impressed until he does it at a higher level.

Also interesting that he threw 76 innings in 47 games last year out of the pen. Side arming lefty that throws about 87mph. It's very weird that he's not in AA, as a mature LOOGY prospect. They won't really know if he's an actual MLB prospect until he gets to AA.
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I think Hurl liked Chad Girodo last season, I'll see if I can pull up the post
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Can't find it. Chris King liked him last year though, he tweeted about him a few times.
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Alonzo Gonzalez promoted to Dunedin Could mean someone is on the way up from extended (Smoral, Smith, Tinoco?)
