metafour Verified Member Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Trea Turner homers off Miguel Castro who makes his Lansing debut tonight. Castro did end up striking out 2 afterwards.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Pompey: 1-3, BB, SB. Now hitting .295
abola2121 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I know it's too early to discuss off-season moves, but Would Bautista/2 mid-level prospects be enough to pry Josh Bell from Pittsburgh?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I know it's too early to discuss off-season moves, but Would Bautista/2 mid-level prospects be enough to pry Josh Bell from Pittsburgh? How good do you realistically think Bell is that one of the best OFs in the game isn't even enough for him?
metafour Verified Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I know it's too early to discuss off-season moves, but Would Bautista/2 mid-level prospects be enough to pry Josh Bell from Pittsburgh? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. We prob need to throw Stroman in too brah.

abola2121 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 How good do you realistically think Bell is that one of the best OFs in the game isn't even enough for him? Bell + prospects/fillers. Mind you it's purely hypothetical. What would you consider realistic?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 It'd take a hell of a lot more than Josh Bell for Jose freaking Bautista.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 What if he demands a trade? Then a lot of teams will be wanting Jose Bautista and be offering more than Josh f***ing Bell.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Not a terrible Lansing start for Castro 4IP 1BB 5K 5ER but 4 of them from 2 HRs and he had 6 GO and 1 FO
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Jon Berti having a good year quietly. He's a really good defender as well.

theblujay Verified Member Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Has Castro passed Tirado now?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Dalton Pompey in AA: 115 PA - 134 wRC+ Max Pentecost in A-: 82 PA - 111 wRC+ Not bad at all.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 This has been just a stellar year for Jays prospects imo. Norris and Pompey broke out huge, Castro and Barreto are quickly making their way up the ranks, Lugo and Nay are coming out of slow starts, Pentecost and Hoffman are great adds, Sanchez and Stroman holding their owns in the bigs.. the only *real* disappointment I can think of has been Nolin.

Don't forget Alberto Tirado. He's been just terrible this year. Adonys Cardona was also disappointing after getting hurt. Hoped he would make a jump this year. Matt Smoral has been a nice surprise. Hopefully he can pull a Norris.

Kind of hard to know what to make of Sanchez. Is a move to the bullpen (albeit in the majors) progress? Not a wasted season by any stretch but not one that's brought much clarity either. No huge dissapointments overall though, Burns didn't show much for a player repeating AA and Jimenez doesn't look like he has much bat all but neither is a big deal. They have been overshadowed by higher upside talent and that's a good thing.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Another guy who has taken a huge step back is DJ Davis. He looked like he could turn into something but now looks like a complete bust. The best part about his game is speed and he is terrible at stealing bases. I'll take a big step back from a guy who wasn't likely to make it anyway and have a ton of SS guys progress.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Hopefully he pitches well so he can be a nice trade chip again. He's not a guy that you want to trade. His value to other teams is no where near his value to the Blue Jays. A guy who is 19 coming back from TJS is not your usual trade candidate.

I have to admit I do get pretty excited about the prospects of our starting rotation in a couple of years.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I just hope our pitchers can stay healthy. With the amount of talent there could easily be 4 or 5 pitching top 100 prospects by next year.

I also hope AA is savvy enough to sign some quality FA position players to fill holes if we do get that good cheap pitching staff we're dreaming of.
