BTS Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Damn, Dinger actually has Laika on the ropes here. That Trevor Richards vulture win was huge.

Laika Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2021 Author Posted September 12, 2021 I can still win. I might need multiple vulture wins though, lmao
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Gotta flip one of R, HLD, W, and tie the other two? I’ll assume you have the tiebreaker, without looking into it at all. 10% chance maybe, but it could happen.

I think our first tiebreaker is h2h and looks like I beat you week 7. Flipping runs and then pulling ahead in holds is enough
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Clearest path is for Laika just to flip R and get one more hold today than Dinger does. Laika has like 9 relievers in his lineup today, so I think that's probably more like a 20-30% outcome.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2021 Posted September 12, 2021 Saint Guerrero, guide me to victory!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 I vow to the league to take down the #1 seed in round one and then fold like a cheap tent. ^^^
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 ^^^ Make sure you keep your word on the second part of that.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 I feel like Dinger will still be bringing this up years from now. Laika assembled an absolute juggernaut, and Dinger taking him down from the 11th seed is peak DDL.

His offense looks as good if not better than mine on paper, largely because of Vlad. The gap on the P side basically disappeared with me losing McClanahan, Sale, Taillon, Wisler, Pomeranz, and Clippard all during or right before R1 and with Bieber never making it back. I don't really have a juggernaut built around a bunch of Vlad, Soto, Franco types. My team is a random assortment of hired guns. Dinger's 11th place record was largely due to inattention and not a lack of talent. And he got lucky with very few injuries during the playoffs save for the typical spattering of broken arms.

Yeah, that's a pretty good take. He might have the best offense in the league right now with Vlad/Devers/Correa/Stanton all healthy. I see my matchup with him this week as a coin flip.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Atta boy Dinger. Represent Division Ruben
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Dinger's 11th place record was largely due to inattention and not a lack of talent. This, but I also got 0 IP from my most talented SP (Thor) and most talented RP (Anderson) all season, and even my depth innings (Valdez, Pineda, German, Kelly, Kopech) missed a lot of time and left me incredibly thin. I had to cash out Gleyber to even get Alcantara as my nominal SP1, and that was like 6 weeks ago. So I had a lot of victories that had close margins by score, but where my offense in fact massacred my opponent.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 That said, Anderson just came back, I have a two-start week from Sandy, and Vlad is hotter than the sun, so this is my chance to get revenge for Brendan Rodgers.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 That said, Anderson just came back, I have a two-start week from Sandy, and Vlad is hotter than the sun, so this is my chance to get revenge for Brendan Rodgers. What did you end up trading Rodgers for?
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 Vlad is probably going to take Yarbrough deep at least twice today. I should probably not start him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 What did you end up trading Rodgers for? IIRC he was part of a package along with Victor Robles to trade up and take Stanton in a dispersal draft. I could have taken Bellinger, which I regretted for a long time but no longer regret.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2021 Posted September 13, 2021 There were other pieces but basically I did Miguel Cabrera for Jake Lamb Jake Lamb for Robles + Soto Soto for Rodgers Rodgers + Robles for Stanton So in a very roundabout way, I can subtract Soto from the algebra and pretend I got Stanton for Cabrera just as he turned into a pumpkin Mental gymnastics 101

I hope you win it all because with moves like this your fantasy days are numbered

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Omg you did? Meanwhile Alcantara is throwing a no-hitter. You should probably start preparing yourself mentally for Dinger's upcoming championship.
