BTS Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 To KK: Sean Rodriguez + 6th round pick To SG: 3rd round pick I kind of didn't realize that a) Rodriguez wasn't 35+ years old, he had more than 150 PA this year, or C) he had a 130 wRC+.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 If I had less 20 man issues I'd have happily rolled the dice on him as a super util player that possibly figured out how to hit. And I on the other hand have holes all over the place.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 To KK: Sean Rodriguez + 6th round pick To SG: 3rd round pick Hey Guys, I processed the picks, but had already changed picks over to the static numbers. As such please confirm that this trade was S.Rod + MiLB #120 for MiLB #49

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 tehehe I dunno, I feel like it could've been better.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Finally my ineptitude is properly rewarded. Hey now... you did get the #1 pick (and #2) in 2014. I assume you're hoping to do better than Rodon and Aiken this time tho (although I still like Carlos)

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 ah, well there you go. 3 Town Bike titles later, justice is finally served!
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 btw Hurley can go ahead and make his compensation picks if he wants
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 And I on the other hand have holes all over the place. Never look to SG to fill your holes

TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I will take Maitan and Otani as my Compensation. My love of Seth Beer remains but I figure I'll be in the lottery again by next year.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The one time Boxy gets the 1st overall pick in the MiLB draft and Hurl steals away his generational prospect.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The one time Boxy gets the 1st overall pick in the MiLB draft and Hurl steals away his generational prospect. First, debatably generational, second he's only 16. That's so far away.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The one time Boxy gets the 1st overall pick in the MiLB draft and Hurl steals away his generational prospect. Hard to claim a 16 year old as being generational. Moncada was probably a better talent at the same age, and while he is good, he is nowhere near generational.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I'm just going by what the scouts say, comping his bat to Miggy while projecting him to stay at SS or 3B. We'll have a better idea this time next year. And I still think Moncada could be a generational talent, although the K spike is concerning.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Is Machado a generational talent? I would say yes. That's the kind of ceiling that's been discussed for Maitan.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Is Machado a generational talent? I would say yes. That's the kind of ceiling that's been discussed for Maitan. Machado isn't "generational"... he's like, an annual talent. Maybe slightly less frequent. Harper, Bryant, Seager, Trout, Betts, Lindor - these guys are all like 23 years old and as good as Machado. The only generational talents in baseball are Kershaw and Trout, generally speaking. Others may be generational in a sub-category, such as "generational SS" or "generational power" or "generational fastball".
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 It was slightly a no doubter with KM, for no other reason than his potential trade value...then Dinger had to go and pump him up and declare him a Dinger guy. Now everyone is hoping for him to fail. Even the BBDL owner isn't in this league. Oh well going to have to keep him

Ok, if that's your definition, I will subtract "generational talent" and substitute "franchise talent."

I'll gladly buy more stock before he starts ripping up the prospect lists.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Ok, if that's your definition, I will subtract "generational talent" and substitute "franchise talent." This is a much more accurate label and characterization of the particular player. Good job, B.A. in English.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 When prospects become Dinger guys I feel like I have to hate them. I guess I saved Greg Bird from this cruel fate.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 This is a much more accurate label and characterization of the particular player. Good job, B.A. in English. I'm glad we could come to a consensus on the ability of a player that none of us have ever seen play and is at least 4 years away from the major leagues.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 When prospects become Dinger guys I feel like I have to hate them. You sure hated Lindor. You poo-pooed Seager. I'm not sure who else we've really disagreed on. I was the only one backing Bird when you acquired him and the rest of the league called you a fool.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The one time Boxy gets the 1st overall pick in the MiLB draft and Hurl steals away his generational prospect. Hunter Greene (as a pitcher...he's got to let go of the SS thing) sounds like the surest HS pitcher in years.
