Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Made a Fantrax league for people to poke around in. We are still not 100% moving. I think everybody should be getting emails soon. Two possible problems: 1) Injured reserve enforcement is a Premium option on Fantrax. So when a player is no longer injured, you can't prevent adds/trades like in Yahoo unless we are in a paid Premium Fantrax league. 2) Fantrax has different position eligibility rules - they are more strict. Commissioners can override any player's eligibility but I can't see how to change the default eligibility rules. How strict are they? I know yahoo is something like a) 10-15 starts to qualify for eligibility next year 5 starts in any given season to gain in-season eligibility

Maybe I should check my players, then say this ... Does injured reserve enforcement actually matter? I guess someone could load up players during the year with the hope that they can use them as free adds during the playoffs, but they'd still have a DL size limit to contend with.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 You’re fully aware that my passion for whining has been fully developed since like 2005. I made it close, you killed me in H2H, lol

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 What's their enhanced draft pick trading in premium? Is that the option that allows us to have both waiver and MiLB picks?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 I also like stricter eligibility. How much does a premium league cost? $4 / person per year. I don't have a problem with that.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Ah, I see. They have underneath a full explanation: https://www.fantrax.com/newui/premiumLeagueFeatures.go
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 $4 / person per year. I don't have a problem with that. I don't think levying even a small fee is right on principle, and also there's absolutely no chance for universal agreement. I would ideally like the premium features but having people volunteer to pay doesn't seem fair either. I dunno.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 town bike pays edit- but not lottery in this case of course

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Looks like I'm finished unless something crazy happens in the Rockies/Dodgers game and Diaz picks up a save. Was a good matchup Jaysblue. Was tight and was back and forth all week. Thanks man. It was an ugly matchup that's for sure. Both of our teams scuffled all week long and it was tight till the very end.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 I made it close, you killed me in H2H, lol You had one of the best offensive days I’ve ever seen today. Made it too close for comfort.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Congrats jaysblue.. very impressive performance today in crunch time. My bats came up huge today and saved my ass. Was losing 8-5 to start the day and needed to flip some offensive categories to have a chance. Picking up Jorge Lopez was a huge mistake today and could have lost it for me. If TCA got an extra save and flipped OBPA which was still possible with him having Plutko starting, he would have won. I was keeping an eye on the Rockies/Dodgers game since it was close and he had Diaz.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 It's an honour to win the DDL Championship finally after all these years! Happy to cross this one off the list. Wasn't an easy path. One of my favourite leagues and I'm happy to have my name up with all the greats!

TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 I think we can all agree that our league playoff champion pays the Fantrax fees. We can revisit this again next year, after we see who wins.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 So is trading season back open? I'm open to moving pretty near anyone this offseason. Top of my wish list is a 2B. Ideally I'd like to make a 2 for 1 or similar deal, or move a roster guy or 2 for prospects.

Ideally I'd like to make a 2 for 1 or similar deal, or move a roster guy or 2 for prospects. Yeah, trading season is wide open. Roster restrictions are lifted. Caveat - the spreadsheet has not been populated with end of season rosters yet (and who knows what we are doing with the possible migration to Fantrax, f***ing dictator GM) so if anybody does make any trades they need to keep a record themselves, so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2019 Author Posted September 23, 2019 How strict are they? I know yahoo is something like a) 10-15 starts to qualify for eligibility next year 5 starts in any given season to gain in-season eligibility YAHOO: 5 starts or 10 total appearances in a position to gain eligibility that year. 3 starts to gain SP, 5 relief appearances to gain RP. If a player earned eligibility last season or would have earned it based on games played, they have it this season. Fantrax: Games needed from previous season for a player to qualify at a hitting position : 20 Games needed from current season for a player to qualify at a hitting position: 10 Starts needed from previous season for a player to qualify as a starter : 8 Starts needed from current season for a player to qualify as a starter : 4 Relief appearances needed from previous season for a player to qualify as a reliever : 8 Relief appearances needed from current season for a player to qualify as a reliever: 4 ** In Fantrax the commissioner can manually adjust any player's eligibility but the commissioner can not, apparently, adjust the general eligibility rules. NOTE THAT in fantasy history Yahoo's low eligibility rules are the exception. Most sites/places over the years have used higher thresholds than Yahoo.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 NOTE THAT in fantasy history Yahoo's low eligibility rules are the exception. Most sites/places over the years have used higher thresholds than Yahoo. -- That's irrelevant since we have been constructing our rosters based on the standard we have been using. Any change to these minimums will have to be implemented after a period of notice. Please run a full report of league-wide eligibility changes affected by this migration. I'll need this by EOD.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 YAHOO: 5 starts or 10 total appearances in a position to gain eligibility that year. 3 starts to gain SP, 5 relief appearances to gain RP. NOTE THAT in fantasy history Yahoo's low eligibility rules are the exception. Most sites/places over the years have used higher thresholds than Yahoo. I'd be alright with the stricter rules. I'd suggest that for the 2020 season, players(only ones kept by teams) would have to be adjusted manually by the commishes to reflect what their eligibility would have been in Yahoo. But for the 2021 season it would be by Fantrax standards. Seems like an easy fix to me.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 The roster eligibility seems like a non-issue to me. Let owners request commish intervention on affected players for 2020, and adopt the stricter thresholds for 2021.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 A bigger issue is why we are trying to force pitchers to conform to one identity in 2019? This whole SP-RP binary is so outdated! Pitchers are pitchers.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Are we allowed to pick players up still?
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 23, 2019 Author Posted September 23, 2019 A bigger issue is why we are trying to force pitchers to conform to one identity in 2019? This whole SP-RP binary is so outdated! Pitchers are pitchers. That's not a terrible point (we could certainly change one or two SP slots to P slots cuz 2020). But this also gets at something else. If we do move, there are a lot of evolutions we could implement. For example, we could allow demotions if players IRL get sent down. This is something we didn't allow mostly because it would have been a pain to process on the spreadsheet. There are a ton of other rules we could implement. We could nix the practice of adding injured players, for example. I agree with the above comments about bridging eligibility rules through 2020. Seems sensible. Honestly, the biggest issue for me is the DL roster locking being a premium feature. I don't care if it's only $4 a person, I do not want to have to deal with paying money every year for the league to function. It's not even really about the money, it's the principle and the hassle. And I don't love the non-solution of just not freezing rosters... I can't of want owners to have to activate players when they become healthy. If we do end up with a dumb f***ing paid league we could at least use some neat features like allowing draft pick trading 2 years out. I don't know. Maybe this is all more trouble than it's worth? #Regretxit Maybe I am just kicking up all this dust to inflate my personal brand

Maybe I could pay for it and take voluntary donations from anyone who wants to chip in, up to the cost of the league -4 dollars or whatever if I'm so lucky.

Yeah I don't imagine coming up with the money would be a chore, at least for the first few years. A few people would throw in $20 and it would be done.
