Laika Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2017 Author Posted October 19, 2017 Yeah I would have much preffered that the other way. The drop is really sharp in the waiver draft though TBH I have no idea if there's even a single good IFA this year. I haven't heard of anybody... Otani is already owned, of course.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 I haven't heard of anybody... Otani is already owned, of course. f*** you hurl
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) f*** you hurl I am still in mourning, I can't celebrate the Otani ownership yet. There are other internationals on their way. I truly believe that Yamada gets posted and with 2B as his likely spot for now he'll be a valuable asset. Edited October 19, 2017 by TheHurl
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 International talk got me to looking up some stats for the Asian season. Willin Rosario put up a .339/.414/.661 season. The 9.8% BB rate is likely a factor in them pitching around him rather than him developing a new found patience, but only 61k's in 510 PA's is impressive. Looks like he's a 1B now, only 28 still. Can he be Thames light?

I would imagine the average FB velocity is significantly worse over there, though, so to make a short answer long, no I don't think so.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Looking to trade for an established closer. I'm dangling Sixto Sanchez, Nate Pearson, and Jeren Kendall. Could also talk roster players if prospects don't pique your interest

I thought he killed the fastball in the MLB though (haven't looked that up) and off speed stuff was his issue.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Francisco Mejia, 3B, Glendale Desert Dogs (Cleveland Indians): 4-5, 2 R, RBI Reports of Mejia in the infield have been mixed, with some saying he is a good enough athlete to make it work after a lot of practice. While others believe he won’t learn the reactions and quick feet necessary for it. -- So the Indians have the best C prospect in baseball and decide to convert him to 3B at the last second. Why?

Simplest explanation is that they don’t think he can catch.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Can't wait to see which 3 Top 50 prospects you get for him!
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Can't wait to see which 3 Top 50 prospects you get for him! Someone will overpay with elite prospects, and Nelson will never have another meaningful fantasy season. The way she goes.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Jimmeh to p2f, Dinger's 1st milb to me. Hear! Hear!
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 That's reasonable. Remember when we all piled on Sammy for trading Nelson for Nova + a 1st?

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Is this going to get deals rolling? Who is in need of a SS that is good enough to start? If so, Andrelton Simmons is calling for you!
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I'd love to upgrade my BP with a real stopper (collecting SV's). Would like to deal any prospect asset outside of Senzel and Whitely, and could also talk roster guys.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 HMU when you want to pay the piper for Craig Kimbrel.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I haven't forgot, I just can't find the precedent for trading a top 10 'spect for a closer. And Whitely... I've just got some sort of thing for him, so that's my issue

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Willson Contreras for Andrew Miller doesn't ring any bells for you, huh? was he really a top prospect in June 2016? Def helium guy at that point, but I can't remember
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 was he really a top prospect in June 2016? Def helium guy at that point, but I can't remember He was in between lists, kinda like Tatis when I traded him for Kimbrel this fall. Both effectively Top 20 guys.
