Ariel Miranda on waivers! s*** is getting juicy, I knew I didn't stash my claim in vain.

Thinking of putting in a claim with one of the two empty roster spots I'm sitting on. Tough call now though. I can't make a trade to acquire the (apparently) much-coveted free roster spot, so I might have to drop Alex Claudio if something else comes up. Or Ryan Buchter. Or Mike Foltynewicz. Or Antonio Senzatela. Or Jharel Cotton. If only I could make a trade to free up a spot for waiver wire adds.

I can't decide whether to claim Miranda or Fiers, and in which order. Both are obviously viable keepers and kingmakers. Life is hard.

I also don't really think the 'created roster spot' argument holds any water, because a) where one team gains two spots, the team they're trading with loses two, so it's zero-sum in terms of teams rostering waiver trash, and B) every eliminated already team has multiple guys they'd drop in a second if they saw something of any interest on the waiver wire. Dinger has at least 5 guys with zero chance at having offseason value that he could have dropped if he saw something he liked. These two new spots hold no value to him.

The strong reaction people are having to this seems equal parts visceral "I don't like this because it feels like it might be a problem", and butthurt because teams with nothing to do are making deals and playoff teams feel like everything should pause so they don't miss out.

I'll reiterate that I don't really care, because I can't really be bothered to talk trade right now, but I just don't understand the opposition, at all.

I have no dog in this fight either, as I had no intentions of submitting offers for any of the players moved in these deals.

I'm just shocked were implementing new rules on the go. That hurts the integrity of such a fine and established framework that's been set for this league.

If you want eliminated teams to make deals, take a vote and implement it in the offseason.

Thanks to your sneaky dealings for two new roster spots you can claim both without worrying about which of Jason Vargas, Adam Morgan, or Marc Rzepczynski to drop.

That's probably the most valid issue. I guess I didn't really see it as new rules, because I've literally been assuming for years that eliminated teams were free to make trades but didn't, because why make deals when probably half the league or more won't listen?

I really don't know what people were thinking making deals when half the league could have potentially paid more than what they received. I get it in some circumstances where if the playoffs teams lacked young prospects, they couldn't have offered anyway. But others, ridiculous.

If you want to make a new rule, the rule should institute a trade moratorium, because no such rule exists. This is my offseason.

We'll have to vote on it, though.

All of this talk has me wondering about a different scenario: what would happen if a team had a player set to retire after the season, say David Ortiz, and missed the playoffs after a late season collapse? Would he be prevented from dropping Ortiz in September? Personally I'd hold so as not to throw someone like that into a playoff team's lap, but what if the owner were inclined to drop him for a waiver add?

Teams that miss the playoffs shouldnt have 23-34 players that they can't drop. I don't think it's to much to ask for owners to use common sense and respect the integrity of the league to not gift a playoff team an elite slugger for free

Table this for voting. We can call it the Papi Clause.

Realistically though, that scenario probably won't come up again in the lifetime of this league.

Are you guys f***ing retarded? There is a trade deadline in Yahoo. The Yahoo season is still going on.

There has never been an add/drop deadline in our league.

There will be no vote on anything, unless Dinger wants us to vote on whether or not he should dick off.

I have the conch!

Holy f***, I thought it was just me because I agreed with FeatherD 100% and didn't understand the attitude that this should be cool. Can playoff teams trade too, in their minds?

Better fantasy career: Acuna or Robles?

Acuna. He just did better things at AAA at 19 than Robles did at AA at 20, and you have to dream less on his power. I like Robles a lot though. Possibly be a 7-cat contributing monster.

I actually didn't realize how often Robles gets HBP. That's somewhat concerning for his durability. You just know somewhere along the line he's going to lose half a season to a broken hand.

Ehhh, SSS though, and Acuna has more whiff. Robles made it to the show first!

Don't care, if they are going to play here they should speak and sound English.
