Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I've got to rebrand to move into hopefully competition. Been thinking about it for a long time and have come to realization that I suck at coming up with team names. Nomar Comin' would be a pretty badass name. Too bad it's already taken tho. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view7/3187497/omar-comin-2-o.gif
TRM Verified Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Omar is the best character on the best show of all time. Paying homage to him seems wise.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I dunno, just pick a cheesy name based on one of your core dudes. Rags to Riches Story Dirty Sanchez Good Eaton Oye Como Va?????
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Can someone roll Spanky onto his back and check his pulse?

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 I'm thinking about a permanent rebrand to "The Mintenders". Pros: It's not attached to a player It can be used to compliment me ("contender") and attack me ("pretender") There's only one Min-tender Simple Easy to identify team with owner Cons: Kinda boring? Not particularly clever No one likes Min Any insights? Trade for Greg Bird and then be the Snow Birds because you f***ing leave us for half the year every year
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Trade for Greg Bird and then be the Snow Birds because you f***ing leave us for half the year every year Insert one of King's stupid GIF's here as that genuinely made me spit out my coffee. Best line of the off-season.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I'd like a ruling. Yahoo is allowing me to already move Staumont to the n/a so I think I should get pick 93 back rather than waiting for the rush. Thoughts?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Can someone roll Spanky onto his back and check his pulse? I sent him a trade offer. When he looks at that I'll let him know that he is up.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I'd like a ruling. Yahoo is allowing me to already move Staumont to the n/a so I think I should get pick 93 back rather than waiting for the rush. Thoughts? Owners cannot "hold" extra MLB assets (players + waiver picks) after the cut down date. This means that if an owner keeps 20 players and has 6 waiver picks (one acquired via trade), their worst pick disappears effective at the cut down date. This also applies to extra MLB assets acquired during the draft; if an owner that kept 20 players and has five waiver picks trades an MiLB pick or a prospect for a waiver pick or MLB player, their worst waiver pick disappears effective at the confirmation of said trade. An owner that has made all of their waiver picks and thus has 25 MLB players cannot make any trades during the waiver draft that would give them more MLB player(s), even if Yahoo would accommodate the trade (by, say, placing a player in an NA or DL slot).
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 don't know if the above applies, but the sense I get is no.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 stupid prepared for everything league.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 I'd like a ruling. Yahoo is allowing me to already move Staumont to the n/a so I think I should get pick 93 back rather than waiting for the rush. Thoughts? Nah. Everyone has DL, day-to-day, or NA players. In the current set of rules we eliminate extra waiver picks so everyone exits the waiver draft with 25 MLB players, maximum. If people would prefer a system where you can put your keepers or selected players in the DL and NA slots and make as many waiver selections as you would like, own, and can accommodate, then we can vote on it for next year.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Hyun-Jin Ryu (elbow, shoulder) was sitting 84-86 mph with his fastball in his latest bullpen session. RIP tubby
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Hyun-Jin Ryu (elbow, shoulder) was sitting 84-86 mph with his fastball in his latest bullpen session. RIP tubby I wonder what guys who throw ~90 sit at in their first spring training BP sessions. I would assume some sit 90, other sit 85. Depends on the guy. Ryu could still maybe possibly not suck? But he's probably done.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I'm pretty sure the guy who's pitched 4.2 MLB innings over the last two seasons does, indeed, suxx.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 and god damn you change team names a lot KK. I couldn't do another season with "Jean Segura-lites". The reference is dated and even though it's supposed to be an oblique reference to how awesome Mookie Betts is, the irony just kind of gets lost. My team might still not be all that great but I wanted to at least have a less depressing sounding name.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Did someone actually keep Ryu?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Sorry fellas, I'm on a Buckley's, Neo-Citran, soup diet... non self inflicted sickness suxxxxxxx. Took Will Harris, e-mailed The Hurl.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I'll take Dirk Diggler aka Derek Dietrich. Not going to get the other guy I wanted at 28 but oh well. I figure a 500 PA guy with four positions might help me move up to 17th.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I’m going to go ahead and take Miguel Sano, I mean Chris Carter! ... er, Kenny(s) Vargas.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 I’m going to go ahead and take Miguel Sano, I mean Chris Carter! ... er, Kenny(s) Vargas. I almost took him over Hedges at 12. Switch hitter with big power, who has shown the ability to hit MLB pitching. Could go 30/100 if allowed to play everyday.

Could go 30/100 if allowed to play everyday. His splits are kinda fugly, but the Twins plan on rolling with him and the walk rate is great. I could see 25 HR and an .800 OPS, maybe a bit more if everything clicks.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 I'll just take Gregerson I guess.
