Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Surely you're not being serious, there was compensation for Taveras? I think this is a case of Cyborg's team being so much better than the rest of the league that he graciously decided to just eat the loss. It's a noble gesture, but I'm pretty sure if he was a mid-pack team, he'd take the compensation.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I think he's less valuable than Martin, and clearly more valuable than McCann and Wieters. But that only makes him a fringe keeper for me. How many catchers should even survive the cut this year? The obvious ones: Lucroy Posey Gattis Grandal Contreras Martin Sanchez Ramos (somebody will roster him for the season, and probably regret it) I think we'll see fewer than 15 catchers retained, with close to half the teams in the league picking someone up in the waiver draft. Mike Zunino will be surviving the cut
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Mike Zunino will be surviving the cut I think that this Zunino thing will probably end with you being disappointed.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I think that this Zunino thing will probably end with you being disappointed. Sounds like what happens with your typical ex-girlfriends
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Well, besides the easy way out, comment. Idk. Yeah that's a pretty backhanded comment lol
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I think that this Zunino thing will probably end with you being disappointed. It's Jesus Montero all over again
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 It's Jesus Montero all over again Sure, exactly the same if you just ignore all the tangible improvements.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Sure, exactly the same if you just ignore all the tangible improvements. Should I ignore the fact that he's hitting at the Mendoza line with a 32% K rate and just focus on his unsustainable ISO?
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Sure, exactly the same if you just ignore all the tangible improvements. He's hitting 0.207 with a 32% K-rate, and if he did make adjustments, pitchers have adjusted back, as he's running a wRC+ of 59 in September.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 What do you project for Diaz next year? I'm curious about your expectations.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 What do you project for Diaz next year? I'm curious about your expectations. .290/.350/.500 with around 25 dingers.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I see him more around .275/.330/.440 with 15 HR. I don't buy into him as a .200 ISO guy going forward. Still a pretty good hitter but with a wide range of outcomes.

Still a pretty good hitter but with a wide range of outcomes. Too much easy pop for me to go that low. He has a really sexy combination of hitting the ball hard, having a good amount of contact and good amount of patience. He went through a big slump and made adjustments to get back to being a second tier hitter at SS (only because SS is so f***ing stacked these days). He also got so upset about Jose that he decided to hit a grand slam.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Wasn't he DFA last year at one point? Pretty amazing turnaround.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 i am completely unsure of the direction of my team. I had a plan...that plan changed. Losing two of my starters kind of put me in a different position. I know that I'll be putting a few of my hitters on the block. I wish Yuli showed more so that I could make a move at 3B. My block is likely any of my hitters and my needs are starters.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I'm not sure about that... his letter was quite genuine. Well, besides the easy way out, comment. Idk. Didnt mean it that way (backhanded or anything). I struggled over the wording there. Just wanted to say that Jose didnt ever have it easy and that I wanted to do the same?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 So... Tebow and Otani or Tebow and Beer?
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Does Fielder's kid play baseball? Might be a worthy gamble. Can Hurl take someone who isn't born yet? Trout's hypothetical son could pay off huge.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 So... Tebow and Otani or Tebow and Beer? Beer is so tempting for me.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Ugh, I'm mapping out my keepers... and my team is going to be very bad again.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Beer is so tempting for me. Is that a pun or are you actually considering him? I know you love college ball.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Ugh, I'm mapping out my keepers... and my team is going to be very bad again. Reading this made me want to map out mine. My number 20 spot leaves starters Seth Lugo and Alex Wood fighting for it at the moment. It's a long offseason though.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Was that Rajai Davis add a potential 20 man spot? Cuz, er...yikes. Things are pretty dire.

My number 20 spot leaves starters Seth Lugo and Alex Wood fighting for it at the moment. It's a long offseason though. I have Lugo in BORED. Not sure what to make of him. He hasn't pitched that well, but he throws 95 and has the highest spin rate curve ball in baseball. I might keep him.

His K-rate is kinda low as a starter though, hoping he can can bring it up a little closer to what it was in the minors. But I'd much rather the Dodgers decide Wood's in the rotation so that way I can keep him instead.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I've always found him a bit interesting. A catcher who plays every day, has HR power, and contact skills is always going to be interesting in a 20-teamer. But then he added 7 points to his K%, and it makes me question whether he'll get his OBP back over 0.300, which he has to do to have any kind of value. He's still an interesting player, though it's not like his trade value is that sky high. In a league that counts .OBP as a scoring category especially. If this was another league that didn't count .OBP or a salary league, then Perez is far more valuable.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Is that a pun or are you actually considering him? I know you love college ball. It is 1A and 1B between him and Otani. Too many college coaches calling him the best NCAA hitter they have ever seen.
