Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I'll start the bidding at Francis Martes. Aren't you rebuilding?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Aren't you rebuilding? I don't know what I'm doing
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 KK almost traded me Mookie Betts for Alex Gordon and Jon Niese last summer! Just because I let you pitch the idea doesn't mean it "almost happened".
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I also inquired on Betts a few times I think.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 You're happy with what he's doing??? His peripherals are terrible and you're losing to the Jean Segura Lites right now anyway, so it's not like you're riding the luck wave to mad points or anything. He's displaying contact skills that would be amongst the worst in baseball in a full season and he's also not walking at all. Offensively, he looks like Mike Zunino with a horseshoe up his ass. But I mean, Mike Zunino in Coors might have been a good fantasy player. How about these peripherals? 12.5% GB% and 66.7% FB rate (Duda was highest last year at 50.6%). IN COORS. 36th out of 253 batters in exit velo of balls in the air (min 10 BIP) and those two stats = 1st(!) in batted ball distance.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I also inquired on Betts a few times I think. IIRC, I wanted Puig.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Just because I let you pitch the idea doesn't mean it "almost happened". No, IIRC you actually told Dinger that you were going to accept it but then got cold feet and said "wait, I shouldn't be doing this".

It's hard to hit home runs without hitting the ball hard, and in the air. It goes without saying that freaky HR streaks will go along with freaky FB and exit velo stats. I don't see much difference between what you just said and saying that somebody is hitting .400 because their BABIP is high. How long would batted ball profile and exit velocity take to stabilize?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 No, IIRC you actually told Dinger that you were going to accept it but then got cold feet and said "wait, I shouldn't be doing this". False. It's not even conceivable that a youth/rebuilding team would consider that offer. I did however beg KK on several occasions NOT to trade Betts.

I have the email trail: ---Quote (Originally by Dr. Dinger)--- You're about to get Betts. ---End Quote--- Hmmm. Was this stated clearly, or are you inferring? ---End Quote--- It was strongly implied... but then he realized he's rebuilding and got cold feet. I never made an offer on Mookie so I'm indifferent. I don't know why he's even considering trading him, but whatever. ---End Quote--- Oh, so he was just running things by you? ---End Quote--- I guess he showed me your offer because I had a standing offer from him of Karns for Rondon, so I cancelled it so he could accept your offer. *************** Not that any of this matters. It's just an amusing piece of near DDL history.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Remember when I said Kelvin Herrera was a potential monster, and you all were like STFU? Especially NJH. And then NJH traded for Herrera cause I had a roster crunch, and now Herrera is pitching like Betances? Love it when that happens.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 And in response to your begging I'm pretty sure I gave you an assurance that I wouldn't do anything stupid. More than anything I just really didn't want NJH to have Mookie Betts, so mission accomplished.

BTS wouldn't trade me Betances for Gordon so this reference pleases me, especially in a world where Jose Reyes has been Wally Pipp'd and might never play baseball again.

If you need a SS to replace Reyes I might start my rebuild early and trade Eugenio Suárez. Unlike Story, he's actually walking more than he's striking out.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 More than anything I just really didn't want NJH to have Mookie Betts, so mission accomplished. I liked the idea of NJH's trade. The idea of cashing in Betts for win now pieces appealed to me at the time but the actual players were never favourites of mine. I did give NJH plenty of opportunity to sell me on it probably because it really wanted a good offer and that was as close as I got to one. I think what I told him in the end was something to the effect that his guys just weren't the right guys for me to make the deal. Seems like I inadvertently mislead NJH through you. I think I wanted to put myself in position to be able to accept his deal but I had never reached that conclusion. I really with I still had the exact wording of the email. I never flat out told you I had made a decision because that never actually happened. I think all I did was toy with the thought of doing something rash and give his offer way more consideration than it merited.

Much faster than you would think. Also he had a 19% GB% rate in AA last year and 28.8% in AAA.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Much faster than you would think. Way to skirt to question

BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I just realized that njh acquired Herrera and 5th from orgfiller for Brandon Guyer in LOD the other day. I have no idea how this happened, but I'm happy about it.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Hey BTS wana trade back for Romo? No reason..... Did he break?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Did he break? Heading back to SF to have his elbow checked. General soreness. Not good... I have a couple shares.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 His elbow broke? That's shocking, he was only throwing his slide like 72% of the time, which is totally normal.
