Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 LOL... my god, Simon, what was I thinking??? "Hmm, let me stream a s***** starter against the best team in baseball on a Wednesday. Seems like a good idea."
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 "Hmm, let me stream a s***** starter against the best team in baseball on a Wednesday. Seems like a good idea." f*** off.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I've avoided saying anything about this to not be gauche... but god damn Trevor Story! (damn you raised Coors fences )
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 I've avoided saying anything about this to not be gauche... but god damn Trevor Story! (damn you raised Coors fences ) You're happy with what he's doing??? His peripherals are terrible and you're losing to the Jean Segura Lites right now anyway, so it's not like you're riding the luck wave to mad points or anything. He's displaying contact skills that would be amongst the worst in baseball in a full season and he's also not walking at all. Offensively, he looks like Mike Zunino with a horseshoe up his ass. But I mean, Mike Zunino in Coors might have been a good fantasy player.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 You're probably right. I should just drop the guy because his BB% is s***. I'm not worried about his BB%. It's been +10 his entire MiLB career and is swinging right now because everything he touches ATM is flying off the bat. I'm just enjoying his power anomaly and hoping his adjustment last year will translate and he'll become a 15-15 SS going forward.

I wish I owned him in some league just to see what the profit point would be. The BB% will improve but it's not what will sink him in any event. BB rate is just a buffer against shittiness. It's the lack of contact that will doom him eventually. Although, being a SS helps. Is Brandon Wood his best comp?

I don't have any illusion of him being a top 10 asset, but I think the detractors have gone overboard in their (justified) attempt to temper expectations on Story.

Not the Brandon Wood that Brandon Wood ended up being. Brandon Wood.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 you're losing to the Jean Segura Lites right now anyway I say this with a certain amount of hesitation (I still have a lof of shitbags on my roster) but... there's a chance my team isn't a total layup this year.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 My team last year was shitbags. My team this year is shitbags + Maeda, Darvish, Puig, Betts, CCC.

I'd take a victory over my team with a grain of salt KK. After I traded Tanaka, my pitching is an absolute joke. I'm basically just waiting for a few of my prospects to come up and join Yordano, which won't really be till next year. I'll be racing you to the bottom.

Well I wouldn't count a victory on Thursday as a victory in the first place. That wasn't really my point.

To use a blasphemous hockey analogy, your team is like the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid, Hall, Eberle and then basically no supporting cast. But yes. I'm very happy that you and Boxy have managed to field teams this year that will, at the very least, frustrate people. It's looking up. Gibbers might have the worst team in the league right now. His rotation is horrendous
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 You also own this cool guy: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/an-introduction-to-adam-conley/
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Why did Gibbers trade for Justin Upton and then not do anything else?
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Also, KK, trade me Puig plz and thx.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 KK almost traded me Mookie Betts for Alex Gordon and Jon Niese last summer!
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I've brought up Mookie in a few trade talks... I can say KK covets him like catnip
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Also, KK, trade me Puig plz and thx. I want more shares, Puig is back.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 You'll never see a guy with a career .375 wOBA get disrespected as much as Puig, it's a sin.

This would be an appropriate time to end the Yasiel Puig episode of Intervention. Puig is healthy and hitting again. All smiles. He's enrolling in school to become a sports psychologist and physiotherapist so that he can help others in need. Roll credits. Blake screen; white text: "Two months later, Yasiel pulled his hamstring and relapsed while on the DL. He was arrested for domestic violence shortly thereafter. The Dodgers are waiting on a ruling from Rob Mandfred"

It's amazing, when he's healthy and not limited to a lowly 111 wRC+ because of hamstring issues there isn't much talk about his toxic personality.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Sometimes things actually work out in the end, like Walking on Sunshine chick.

Yeah that's the other thing, he has a down year where people are s***ing all over him and abandoning ship, and he's still an above average hitter. I think he has some MVP caliber seasons in him.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 So now, that the season has started and we're past the cut, Betances and Wade Davis are still available for blue chip prospects.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 So now, that the season has started and we're past the cut, Betances and Wade Davis are still available for blue chip prospects. I'll start the bidding at Francis Martes.
