BTS Community Moderator Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Sit tight. Romo will be closing by May. I was saying this a year ago
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Die. He's a born closer. He has that bulldog mentality.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 so I can count you as in I'll go if Zach goes because I told him I have to give him a literal high five for his stat scout prowess.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 boil and bubble, the trade stew brews Looking forward to a big Jays victory today. Edit: I just saw the lineup
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Are you guys talking in code or are you just lost?
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Are you guys talking in code or are you just lost? The outcome of today's game determines the pick that will be included in a trade to be announced this afternoon.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Jeez, all my coyness down the drain. I realized that I sound like an insane person without the context.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 You two don't seem to line up on anything major, so I expect this to be a thoroughly boring trade.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Romo-Tolleson swap is guess #2
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Romo-Tolleson swap is guess #2 That will be super hilarious when Romo takes the closer gig and Tolleson loses his. I'm pretty sure silvergun hasn't lost a trade since he moved Donaldson for a 3rd rounder.

I'm pretty sure silvergun hasn't lost a trade since he moved Donaldson for a 3rd rounder. Well apparently he traded Corey Seager for Jay Bruce before 2014, so there's that. - Franco and Swihart for Austin Jackson in 2014 - 1st rounder for Balfour lol - Liriano for Andrus - Jaime for pick #39 - Romo + Heston for.. Nick Kingham? - A.Rod for waiver #43 But that's over 80 trades. So his success + push rate is around 90%
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Well apparently he traded Corey Seager for Jay Bruce before 2014, so there's that. Oh damn, I need to commit that one to memory. Deeply regrettable.

He always does.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 So yeah, trade with your pal sg more and hit the jackpot. It's like playing the slot machines at the casino.

The obvious ones that I can think of: - Jose Fernandez & Matt Carpenter for Albert Pujols & Adam Wainwright... never make a trade while grieving - Cano for Crush has started tipping pretty heavily in NJH's favour although I contend the jury is still out - Chapman for Ellsbury, who has been shite since the day I acquired him - Archer + Choo for Bautista, I don't really regret this one because Bautista is still a boss, but Archer turned out to be the ace I was hyping him to be - David Price for Choo & junk, lost a decent chunk of value here as Choo hit the skids - Lackey for a late rd pick was a roster crunch/I don't believe this old guy is actually good again mistake
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Lol that's not nearly as bad. Fernandez & Carpenter is one of this worst trades in league history, I'd argue. All I have left to show for it is Albert Pujols' dusty ass and J.P. Crawford, who may not ever be fantasy relevant.

Except for maybe the Fernandez deal. My worst deal is easily: deGrom for crap
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Yeah but you also benefited in the interim, it didn't pan out but was easily defensible. A lot of mine were of the light on fire variety. If I had won a championship that year or the following year with Waino, I wouldn't regret it. That's how I can sleep at night, although essentially swapping Carpener for Pujols was a regrettable idea on my part. I had Miggy at 3B and Carpenter was losing 2B eligibility, so I figured Pujols would be an upgrade on that bat, then Carpenter proceeded to double his power output. Ugh. Hurl never asked for Carpenter either, that inclusion was my idea.

You thought Luis Heredia was good for some reason. - Gardner for pick #63 - Dee for Garza - Shields for Cliff Lee in July 2014. Did Cliff ever pitch for you?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Yeah but you also benefited in the interim, it didn't pan out but was easily defensible. A lot of mine were of the light on fire variety. It's pretty disgusting that you squandered Donaldson and Corey Seager completely and still have far and away the best team in the league. Sickening, really.

I chalk it up to repression. I never thought Heredia was good, I was just getting north to throw in some prospect ballast. At the time I had a black hole at CF and Choo was coming off a monster season and heading to Arlington, I was licking my chops.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 And no, Lee never pitched for me. God damn James Shields, he burned me coming AND going.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 If I can't repeat my heart is rooting for you Doc. Thanks. This is possibly my last kick at the can. If I can't get it done this year, there's a strong chance I'll be selling Miggy and Joey.
