Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I quite disagree with Dinger's assessment on Crawford. Since entering MLB, he's significantly upped his offensive contributions every single year and last year was a league average bat which is pretty valuable at SS. He's a big dude so I'm not going to write off this power stroke he's shown as a fluke, PLUS he plays most of his games in the most pitcher friendly parks in baseball. If you'll also look, his ISO has increased every season as well. He's just gotten progressively better. I can't help but look at what Ian Desmond returned and think Brandon is worth something very similar. If no one wants to give me what I want for Crawford, that's fine. Also, yes, I already tried to deal Correa for Bryant lol.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 So you think his ceiling is higher than Hardy in his prime? Because that was my assessment. Ah, I tend to only read half of what you write. Seems like a decent comp, Hardy used to be pretty damn good.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Anyone who's watched the Giants in the past has seen him hit monster fly balls to the opposite field with a lot more regularity than you'd expect from a guy with his numbers. He's always had pop. I can definitely buy a change in approach that has allowed him to get more out of a tool that has always been there.

That's probably your best play. In some leagues, you could probably sell high but in this one people will wait to see more from him. That's probably TCA's best play with Rendon as well.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Bryant for Correra seemed pretty fair, but I already have two decent short stops and Bryant is my baby I've had from the beginning
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Please don't take after King.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Bryant for Correra seemed pretty fair, but I already have two decent short stops and Bryant is my baby I've had from the beginning I wouldn't trade Bryant for anything, he must insanely fun to own. It's extremely satisfying to watch a guy you drafted blossom into a superstar.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 My new plan is to acquire the entire Giants 1-8. 3 down, 5 to go.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 It's extremely satisfying to watch a guy you drafted blossom into a superstar. As a Nick Castellanos owner, I can confirm this statement.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 huh In reference to the naked man for a display picture.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Rumours flying around the twitter today that Toronto is pursuing Carrasco and the Indians are listening. What would it take, DDL minds? What would you pay? 2.81 FIP projected 3.02 FIP / 3.41 ERA Contract: 2015: $2.3M, 2016: $4.5M, 2017: $6.5M, 2018: $8M 2019 Team Option: $9M Can be escalated by up to $4,000,000 depending on Cy Young finish 2020 Team Option: $9.5M ($0.7M buyout) Can be escalated by up to $4,000,000 depending on Cy Young finish
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Oh lordy, I'd give Norris + Hoffman.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I guess they probably want Pompey, come to think of it. They have pitchers coming out of their ears.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Jesus Goddamn Christ that's a sexy contract.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Yeah, they could really use a promising young CF to supplant Bourn. They don't really have anything on the horizon. With Pillar emerging as a useful player and Alford breaking out, Pompey could probably be the 1A or 1B in a Carrasco deal. IIRC, Zimmer and Frazier profile in the corners and Naquin suxxxxxx
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Pompey + Hoffman + a lesser piece would be totally fine by me.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 North is getting blasted on reddit right now for suggesting the Jays trade Pompey + Norris + Hoffman for Carrasco lol
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 I would probably just let Cleveland have their pick of any four minor leaguers. There's $100M+ of surplus value on that contract. If news did break that Toronto acquired him, I would buy a jersey within the hour. lol, Norris & Hoffman & Alford & Pompey &/or Castro?
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Yeah, I'd let Cleveland pillage the system. Any four prospects would be fine with me.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Perhaps there is some hope... if Salazar is any indication, the Indians care more about ERA than FIP.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Okay, I'll be that guy and say that I wouldn't be comfortable with trading our 4 top prospects. Carrasco is a pitcher and can't exactly be labeled as a workhorse. Yes he's elite but pitchers are pitchers. That's not to say that I wouldn't consider giving up 3 of them, but 4 seems like overkill.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I don't understand. Does he think pitchers have control of fly balls going over the fence or not?
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 What's the full Kuma trade? Guess!
