Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 The only way to do this is have Boxy not play out of division. Sharpen a pencil and see if you can find anything that works without screwing up the spread on another division. I'm stumped.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 meh, f*** it. It's good enough. ps. Dinger's 200 win season gets an asterisk due to the garbage division that he got to match up against last year.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Sharpen a pencil and see if you can find anything that works without screwing up the spread on another division. I'm stumped. I'll take a crack at it and see if I can do any better, I'd say ideally you want everyone between 7-13ish?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 I'll take a crack at it and see if I can do any better, I'd say ideally you want everyone between 7-13ish? Yeah just trying to get the spread within each division reasonably close. It would be a pain in the ads to try to get the whole league between 7 and 13 (impossible).

It would be a pain in the ads to try to get the whole league between 7 and 13 (impossible). I think moving forward to save people crying conspiracy, to create fairness and competitive balance and most importantly to simplify the scheduling process, we should create a rotating schedule year over year, similar to the NFL. That way we could make the schedule years in advance, and it would simply be a plug and play situation.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Just an idea, it's possible I'm overthinking it. I would volunteer to be Grand Scheduling Poobah also, in this case. Off the top of my head, I would suggest 2x divisional games, play one other rotating division in whole per season, and then play 4 of the other 5 from the other divisions, based on standings. In this case, 1st place and 5th place don't crossover, 2nd and 4th don't crossover, and the 3rd places don't cross over.

TRM Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 You could make it formulaic. It would take a little work up front, but I think it's the ideal solution.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 What would really simplify this whole thing is transitioning to 5 divisions of 4, but that's a whole other can of worms that would almost certainly never happen.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 What would really simplify this whole thing is transitioning to 5 divisions of 4, but that's a whole other can of worms that would almost certainly never happen. I am staunchly opposed to this. Staunchly.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I am staunchly opposed to this. Staunchly. Yeah I'm not even an advocate of it really, just bringing up how it simplify scheduling. Just an idea.

Is it possible to even do five divisions in Yahoo? I would not be opposed at all to a five division format. Winners get in + three wild cards. The shuffle could help us even out the divisions too.

It's better for rivalries and bragging rights for division titles etc...
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Yahoo is so weak. I might have unilaterally pushed the 5 division restructure through too, because I think it makes sense.

TRM Verified Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 So does anyone have anything to say about my scheduling idea besides North giving it a thanks and BTS saying its a lot of legwork?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 The new division would have been: jaysblue (4), TCA (7), spanky (13), and kingkat (19). Pulling two strong teams from stronger divisions, and the worst team out of the weakest division. It would have avoided breaking up any major existing rivalries but brings BFFs spanky and jaysblue together. The only major existing rivalries IMO are BTS-SVG, FTD-MIN, and maybe me-North, but not as much. Could have called it the French Dip Division, The Dagwood, The Egg Salad, The Po' Boy...

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 At first thought, I'm not a huge fan of the rolling schedule. I like playing everybody once, every season. It's good in the current format that everyone gets a "Bye Week"... And most of the imbalance from the current format simply comes from divisional quality. FTD has the toughest sched but he's in the best division.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I kinda think we're making too much of SOS at this point. Play every team once because it's fun, and then try as best we can to have a fair setup for 'rivalry weeks' and we're fine.
