SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I'd put Gallo in the crap pile too, though he has lowered his K rate to ONLY 26%. Lol, crap? When was the last time someone destroyed high A the way he has at his age? Walk rate is also up to 20%
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Pfft, you're assuming he wants 17 pitchers coming back. There's always a 3-way if he didn't want someone like Cobb. Cobb and Syndergaard >>> Sano and Gallo, and I would have moved both for Edwin.

Especially with Noah's elbow issues coming up
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Lol he's awesome, I wish you had the same view of him everyone else did Speedy and would've taken someone else. Hah. It's okay, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Both guys you gave me are going to be top 5 hitting prospects going into next season, so it's not bothering me any
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Cobb and Syndergaard >>> Sano and Gallo This just is not true. And I love Cobb. Take away at least two of the >>s.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I like it for silver, and now have him locked in the top 8. That offense is incredible. BTW darrells, take your time processing this one. Feel free to take all week on moving Edwin if you want.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 People get way too caught up in prospect rankings when it comes to fantasy. Does anyone actually think Francisco Lindor is a better asset than Joey Gallo? If you do, you should probably just stick to yearly redrafts.

BTS Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 This just is not true. And I love Cobb. Take away at least two of the >>s. Let me rant. I've been looking for a bat for over a month, and my biggest division rival lands a top-10 hitter. I'm pretty despaired here right now.

Gallo will hit some bombs, tank your avg and OBP, probably have a good SLG, decent RBIzzz and swipe a few bags in a best case scenario. He's definitely not someone i'd think twice about if it meant getting Edwin.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Wouldn't a good comparison for Joey Gallo be Pedro Alvarez with a few swipes?

Joey Gallo at high A, 20 years old. 226 wRC+ (not a typo) 26% k rate, 20% walk rate.

Nobody has crushed A+ at his age in what....forever? Carolina league is a strong pitchers league too. Guess that's taken into account in his 230 wRC+.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I printed this message off and smeared it all over my body. Lol
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Wouldn't a good comparison for Joey Gallo be Pedro Alvarez with a few swipes? I don't think Alvarez is in the same power bracket as Gallo
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Lol at the very least this will be something fun to watch over the next 12-18 months

Nobody has crushed A+ at his age in what....forever? Carolina league is a strong pitchers league too. Guess that's taken into account in his 230 wRC+. We'll see, I guess. I doubt Gallo will be walking 20% of the time in the majors and he is still striking out 26% of the time. A guy striking out that much already becomes a negative in 3 categories. For every Chris Davis, there are a hundred guys who don't do s***. Edit, forgot I'd said best case scenario. Should probably go to bed.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I feel like you haven't heard enough scouts lose their s*** over his power, Boxy. I love power as much as the next guy but I dunno. Call me skeptical. Obviously I was being hyperbolic in calling him garbage, but sell high opportunity for a guy who has a small chance of being an impact player? Yes suh.

There's no prospect under AA I'd rather have in a fantasy league than Gallo. Actually, nobody is even close. And we haven't even talked about Sano. An argument could have been made for him being the best pure offensive prospect in baseball before his TJS which shouldn't have long term effects on his swing.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 If I would have known Edwin was on the block, I would have parted with Manny Banuelos+....

This trade could look very bad, or very good. It potentially has the most polarizing outcomes of any trade ever completed in the DDL. I can't wait!

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I'll give you pick 118 if you process Elias and this one tonight BTS? But only if you promise not to spend it all in one place. Blatant bribery being displayed right here?? Shall we suspend Edwin from his team for a week to teach him a lesson??
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 http://www.fangraphs.com/minorleaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=8,9,10&qual=y&type=1&season=2014&team=0&players=0&sort=18,d Bigger gap between Gallo and #2 than #2 and #20. (Old, non prospect types not filtered out either).
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 In the name of sportsmanship, I will process.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Gave Elias to KingKat. You guys should be able to do the major league portion of the Edwin deal?
