Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Ugh, I've lit a fair few picks on fire. I lose sleep over Reese McGuire at 9th.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Puig, Springer, Singleton, Gallo? f*** that, c'mon down, Alen Hanson! Now let's never speak of that again. Polanco, Syndergaard, Arenado, Soler, Crick, Wong, Giolito, Stephenson, Fried, ...

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 If I lose to Boxy this week I don't know what I'd do... That would be quite the 2 week swing. From beating #1 to losing to #20.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Anyone have their pick history handy? 4. Xander Bogaerts 37. Jedd Gyorko 44. Noah Syndergaard 77. Hak-Ju Lee 84. Franklin Barreto 117. Chris Stratton (traded for Farquhar + pick) 60. Arismendy Alcantara (traded with Calhoun and 1st for Fister) 78. Hunter Dozier 82. Danny Salazar (traded for Belt) 92. Travis Demeritte I think I've extracted about every ounce of value I'm going to from my picks so far except Synder. Not much of anything else of value left.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 BALCO Pharm Team Draft History 16. Zack Wheeler (traded in deal for Kemp) 25. Aaron Sanchez (traded for Davidson, who was recently traded in deal for McCann and Cain) 56. Kolten Wong (traded for Chris Carter) 65. Kyle Gibson (traded in five-team deal) 96. Luis Heredia (traded in deal for Price) 105. Mike Montgomery 3. Jonathan Gray (traded in deal for Joe Mauer) 43. Cheslor Cuthbert 45. Maikel Franco (traded in five-team deal) 62. Stephen Piscotty (traded for Coco Crisp) 84. Tyrone Taylor 117. Orlando Arcia I could see you getting burned with Wong and Gray, but aside from that moving your guys for established talent seems to have been the right call.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I could see you getting burned with Wong and Gray, but aside from that moving your guys for established talent seems to have been the right call. My philosophy is that if you trade enough prospects, it evens out. I've also dealt dozens of other guys (Davidson, Singleton, Soler, Gray a second time, etc.) through multi-team trades and short-term acquisitions. You have to trust the process.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 This is fun. 19. Addison Russell 22. Kyle Zimmer 59. Robert Stephenson 62. Rymer Liriano 99. Jesse Biddle 102. Lewis Brinson (traded to Silvergun in deal for Edwin) 7. Braden Shipley (traded in deal for Cashner) 34. Cody Reed 47. Aaron Judge 74. Jordan Paroubeck 87. Edwin Escobar 114. Jeimer Candelario Original draft looks pretty good at this point...(no busts yet!) Picked up a couple good talents in June draft (high on Escobar and Judge)

Complete opposite strategy from North. You've held on almost everyone.

SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Solid. Complete opposite strategy from North. You've held on almost everyone. Thanks. Ya, this was my first ever dynasty league, in year 1 I was still getting my feet wet with respect to values of the different variables (picks, prospects, production relative to age, regression etc). Also, North is a freak of nature when it comes to wheeling and dealing
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I believe I pulled down Buxton, Giolito, Yordano, Gary Sanchez, and Marisnick in the 1st draft. Traded most of my picks for the 2nd draft but scored Sonny G in like the 4th rd. I'm really pretty good at this.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 http://erasolquemefaltava.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/mother-of-god.gif I'm not sure what to take from that reaction....
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Who has the best farm in the league these days?
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Who has the best farm in the league these days? z3r0s Oscar Taveras Danny Hultzen Gregory Polanco Alex Meyer Jonathan Schoop Lucas Giolito Kohl Stewart Nick Ciuffo Delino DeShields Jr Rafael Montero Matt Davidson Jonathan Singleton
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 z3r0s Oscar Taveras Danny Hultzen Gregory Polanco Alex Meyer Jonathan Schoop Lucas Giolito Kohl Stewart Nick Ciuffo Delino DeShields Jr Rafael Montero Matt Davidson Jonathan Singleton What's Speedy's again? Sano + Gallo ~= Polanco + Oscar Edit: that is a nice farm in a 20 team league though.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 So I haven't heard much about Charlie Blackmon lately. I assume he's still tearing the league a new one? Chris Colabello too, I'm sure.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 What's Speedy's again? Sano + Gallo ~= Polanco + Oscar I like OT and Polanco more, but Speedy also has Russel, Zimmer and Stephenson, so I've give him the nod for best farm.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I like OT and Polanco more Yea, really it's about the 2 safest legit prospects vs 2 of the most boom/bust types. Mean outcomes all around I think both sets of two are roughly equivalent.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I like OT and Polanco more, but Speedy also has Russel, Zimmer and Stephenson, so I've give him the nod for best farm. no love for Singleton, Gioltio, Meyer, Montero, and Delino vs those 3?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 no love for Singleton, Gioltio, Meyer, Montero, and Delino vs those 3? I love Gio but he's a long way off. Singleton could be nice but he's way behind Russell for me. Meyer could be as good as Stephenson or Zimmer, but for some reason I'm not sold on him. Montero is probably a back-end type and no, I have no love for Delino. He's got a terrible attitude, no power, and he lost his chance to be a MIF.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 no love for Singleton, Gioltio, Meyer, Montero, and Delino vs those 3? Well if we're going deeper...I also have Rymer Liriano, Edwin Escobar, and Jesse Biddle to go with Russell, Gallo, Sano, Zimmer and Stephenson. They will all likely be top 100 prospects when the next lists come out. Ultimately, it's whoever your preference is...I think we easily have the top two farms
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 no love for Singleton, Gioltio, Meyer, Montero, and Delino vs those 3? Pothead + TNSTAAPP x 3 + fantasy NP Interesting SS + TNSTAAPP x 2 Slight edge to Speedy
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Either way, they're easily the best two farms. Unfortunately, between the two of you, half your studs won't pan out.
Nox Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 between the two of you, half your studs won't pan out. Which is good, because if they did, you'd have to fold the league.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 (insert clever name) draft history (I should really get on inserting that name) Initial Draft 1. Oscar Taveras 40. Danny Hultzen 41. Gregory Polanco 80. Alex Meyer 81. Jonathan Schoop 120. Marcell Ozuna 2013 MiLB Draft 5. Kohl Stewart 36. Nick Cuiffo 80. Nick Delmonico 85. Max Kepler 88. Jesse Hahn Not a good 2013 MiLB draft. I had a few guys picked right before my picks in the 80s pegged, but they were scooped. Still happy with my initial draft.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Which is good, because if they did, you'd have to fold the league. Even if they did pan out to the extreme, I doubt either team would be as good as mine is now.
