NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 That's extremely helpful, seriously. I was really unclear on what I could expect. I don't place much value on the pick, but that's no reason for me to accept anything less than market value in return. Even though the #5 pick could fetch a decent piece on its own, I wouldn't move it unless it's in a package for a stud. Rebuilding teams generally want two premium future assets and a decent third future asset for their studs, and you can use the #5 pick as one of those premium assets. Essentially, you'll get a higher return by packaging top future assets than trading them individually.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Since I'm getting a few hits, Chapman is available. Msg me if interested, just don't expect a major discount.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 96? He was barely hitting 90 last year.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Oh, nice troll. Beachy to undergo TJS Fri per Rotoworld.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Wait, there are more pieces going to KingKat in the Ellsbury deal, right? my god the rich get richer
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I've sold some nice pieces this past year, but I can at least say I didnt contribute to Dinger's juggernaut
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Wait, there are more pieces going to KingKat in the Ellsbury deal, right? There has to be.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Wait, there are more pieces going to KingKat in the Ellsbury deal, right? I assume so. Dinger doesn't have much else that could go in though.
Nox Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I'm Dinger's Paul Beeston and I can confirm that there are no more pieces going the other way. "We're going to have a track team!"
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I seriously wish I could be involed in one of dingers negotiations one day. I really want to know what he says to sweet talk his victims into these deals.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Does KingKat know that Ellsbury was rated like 8th in redraft leagues on ESPN? I do not understand.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 What was the trade? Street and Ellsbury for Venable and Chapman
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Does KingKat know that Ellsbury was rated like 8th in redraft leagues on ESPN? I do not understand. Not in OBP SLG leagues but still. I hate players whose value is tied to SB as much as the next guy but I still see him as a top 40 player with upside.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Havok and I just completed a deal: I receive: Andrew Cashner and pick #59 Havok receives: Braden Shipley and Adam Eaton
TRM Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 This sounds like the beginning of a town square protest against KingKat. FWIW, I've always been preferential to the old "hanged, drawn and quartered" as a method of capital punishment.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Can't beat his gift baskets. He must be awfully good with his mouth or something.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I really like that deal for SG.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Like the deal for Speedy. He gets the starter he was looking for.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Thanks guys. Slowly upgrading my rotation from replacement level. Was a bit of risk on both sides, liked the deal overall.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I think Cashner will be nice this year, but Eaton is sort of the same way. Good for both sides, I imagine, without looking at team needs.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I think Cashner will be nice this year, but Eaton is sort of the same way. Good for both sides, I imagine, without looking at team needs. My staff is in the bottom half of the league with a pretty good offense that punts steals anyway. Which really diminishes Eaton's value to a 10 HR 280/350/400 bat. Also have Ruggiano to fill his spot, who I am quite high on
TRM Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Yup. I was expecting the deal made sense for both sides.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 He should make that his new display picture!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Boy I guess I'm really on my own island when it comes to player evaluations. The funny thing is that I got racked over the coals when I traded FOR Ellsbury and everybody said he wasn't that good and now I'm getting raked for cashing him in. Clearly, I should have asked for more. Dinger did have some secondary pieces that could have helped me. He didn't sweet talk me by the way. I approached him with a Ellsbury for Chapman swap awhile back and he turned it down saying Chapman wasn't on the table. I approached him again after the injury to see if he would reconsider and he did.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 It depends on if Chapman ever gets to start, also.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 It depends on if Chapman ever gets to start, also. I have him as being as valuable as Ellsbury in our league setup even as a reliever so that would be gravy for me. The bigger issue may be that I need to step away from the spreadsheet and better leverage market value.
