TRM Verified Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Wow that's an impressive feat. The guy you lost against must have been really good. You make me sick.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I thought about taking Cron, but I know I would end up dropping him for certain prospects I'm waiting to be promoted to AA.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 You make me sick. I'm so mad we have to wait an eternity before we get our shot against dinger. You get him week 14, I get him week 17. We will humble him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Since I'll have gone undefeated the first dozen or so weeks, I doubt you'll be humble if you're lucky enough to beat me. The downside of having so many aces is that they might all have a one-start week in a given matchup.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I thought about taking Cron, but I know I would end up dropping him for certain prospects I'm waiting to be promoted to AA. Starts with CJ, ends with Edwards?
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Cron is roughly #3-5 on upper minors fringe guys I like that were available, and sadly his path is the least blocked even with Pujols. Hopefully the rumours about Al were true and he's actually 47. Yeah of all the minor guys available I like Cron the best. I expect playing time in 2014.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Starts with CJ, ends with Edwards? Yeah. I hope no one else can decode this clue.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Cron was a good pick. You'll throw him in the NA slot and be able to grab another player comparable to those who were available at the pick. I'm going to take a prospect with one of my last two picks and do the same thing.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Yeah. I hope no one else can decode this clue. I think a lot of people have their eye on him. Everyone except for Boxy. Boxy doesn't like talented players.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Hey guys, I have a trade to run by you guys. This is in my 12 team 5x5 work league. The deal proposed is EE + Alex Cobb for Ubaldo Jimenez + Jose Abreu.

The deal proposed is EE + Alex Cobb for Ubaldo Jimenez + Jose Abreu. In a 12-team, Cobb is a decent guy to have and Jimenez isn't worth anything. And EE > Abreu by a lot, so I'd easily take the EE/Cobb side.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 He has me giving EE and Cobb. I proposed sending CC Sabathia for his Abreu, and this was the guy's counter offer..
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Related to the prospect adding rules defined a few days ago, what happened if someone jumps the gun and adds CJ Edwards at 5:59 am on the applicable day? Maybe a Darrell would restore the player to the FA pool and let everyone have a go at Edwards again the next day?

With the 6:00 add it doesn't make it very fair for the guys on the west coast. Even though this way actually makes it better for me where I'm on the East coast.

No, because then whoever has the #1 waiver priority would get Edwards. It's supposed to be a free-for-all. If I didn't want Edwards but wanted to prevent you or NJH (division-mates) from getting him, I'd add him prematurely and then let whoever has the top priority scoop him up. If it's the time that's inconvenient, maybe changing it outright would make more sense. Although I kinda like that the time's inconvenient. -- I took Micah Johnson. KingKat is up! The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Lol Both players in that deal are better than the best on the other side. This is what I have to deal with in other leagues...
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I really do not give a s*** about CJ Edwards and I can't understand the desperation to add a prospect with a mid-rotation ceiling to my MLB roster.

He has value to a rebuilding team though. A lot of people consider him a top 100 prospect, which is worth something. I'd flip him soon after picking him up for a pick upgrade, which does have value to me.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 That's the power of the NA spot bro. Obviously, but I doubt he'll be a factor at all this year (if ever), and he'd still have to make someone's MLB roster in Feb.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I think Dinger is just posturing. He wants Edwards more then anything in the world.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I'm starting to think we should put Edwards on waivers to start the season. Having 6 or 8 guys racing to add him at 6 am seems pretty stupid.

And how would you regulate future guys (who are promoted in say, May)? -- I took Wade Davis. Realmin is up.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Arent all players who are added to the Yahoo data base put through waivers originally? NVM..why is he already in it
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Personally I'd prefer to keep prospect status locked from the off season--->MiLB draft. This isn't to punish people with their finger on the prospect pulse and desire to get up early to play the player-add showdown. IMO it keeps the draft more interesting and helps prop up the value of draft picks, which I think most people enjoy dealing. I just feel like we have a large enough farm system that there's no real need to increase the likelihood of prospects taking up bench spots, potentially encouraging tanking in bad years (which we can all agree is un-f***ing-American!) Not a bad idea. I agree that a race to add Edwards the day he comes eligible is a little weak.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 FTD is up for the last pick in the draft!!
