Laika Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 I'm Vacation from the Feb. 14 - Feb. 23, but I can just submit my cut down before if that works Yup, if you are going to be AFK just make your decisions early. Nothing wrong with cutting early. What we'll do is have everyone simply make a reply to their team "Roster" thread on proboards. That way we can track who has and has not made their snips! Format will be a numbered list. 20 big leaguers and 12 prospects (or less) must be listed. If anybody is late making cuts for whatever reason, they obviously get a strike, some dirty looks, and their roster gets frozen until they cut down.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Which cut deadline works best for everyone? Sun Feb 16th at 11:59 pm, or Sun Feb 23rd at 11:56 pm Waiver draft would commence precisely one week hence, on the proboards. This is all assuming that Yahoo is up in time. Superbowl is the 2nd (right?), so I'm guessing Yahoo Fantasy Baseball will be up by like, Tuesday the 11th. If it's the 23rd, can we push it back to 11:58? I have immovable plans scheduled between 11:49 and 11:57 PM on the 23rd.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 So I think I'm close to moving Glasnow for a SP. If you're interested in selling a good arm for either him or Syndergaard, now is the time to speak up. Would own again. Both Glasnow and the guy youre trading him for.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 How do you know things? I know everything that's happening in this league.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I know everything that's happening in this league. We need some insiders in this league like Law/Rosenthal/Morosi that can break trade rumors.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Wait, I've been informed Kevin Gray just broke a rumor that Dinger is moving Jose Fernandez for a package based around Zach Lee.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 We need some insiders in this league like Law/Rosenthal/Morosi that can break trade rumors. That would be easy "NoOf49 is said to be shopping upwards of 40 players, none of which he owns".
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) It's only a matter of time before NorthOf49 shops players to me that are already on my roster. "I might be acquiring Mike Trout from you. If I do, what would you offer for him?" Edited January 23, 2014 by Fearthedoc
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 BALCO Pharm Team Trade Block: Mike Trout Miguel Cabrera Robinson Cano Joey Votto Andrew McCutchen Carlos Gonzalez Troy Tulowitzki Chris Davis Paul Goldschmidt Clayton Kershaw Stephen Strasburg Jose Fernandez [insert 400 players]
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Wait, I've been informed Kevin Gray just broke a rumor that Dinger is moving Jose Fernandez for a package based around Zach Lee. Heyman reports that WTP was rebuffed by Gryffindor in their effort to acquire Zach Lee. "No way we move him," says GM Jays_Fever.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I would prefer the 23rd as a cut down date but I could make the 16th work.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Big trade between Sammy and Boxy To Boxy: 1st overall MiLB (Rodon) To Sammy: Aaron Hill and 5th overall MiLB
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I prefer Boxy's side myself. Hill might have 2-3 more good years, but IMO Rodon will be a Top 15 SP by then.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Big trade between Sammy and Boxy To Boxy: 1st overall MiLB (Rodon) To Sammy: Aaron Hill and 5th overall MiLB Was not overly comfortable with this trade I though about a long time and I think Boxy was getting a little antsy because I kept him waiting for so long. I just figured I could get what I want at #5 and it is not really and big upgrade over Walker but a huge upgrade at what I have at Util. Right now. Maybe not the right call but no regrets.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 And so could whoever goes 5th. The difference between Rodon and whoever goes 5th is not worth Aaron Hill. I disagree and I think it's a big difference. Rodon is going to be a Strasburg/Price type pitching prospect. Boxy's team is the worst in the league, and Aaron Hill won't help him in his remaining productive years.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I like Sammy's side. He'll get a very good prospect at #5; this isn't Hill for Rodon. If Sammy decides to sell off pieces midseason, I bet similar or better returns for Hill will be available.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 I think it's a pretty fair deal TBH. As Stras had demonstrated, even phenom arms are flaky assets. I like the idea of trading down, getting Hill for now, and still being able to add someone like Alex Jackson to the farm (or young Beedah!). Not that I have any idea if those two names should even be in the convo at #5.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I like Sammy's side of the deal more. But it was a good move for Boxy, Hill won't be helping him any.

I like Jackson a lot and I dunno if I'd be comfortable taking another pitcher in Hoffman after Rodon so I ddoubt he'll be there at least.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Honestly I'm surprised it took this long for someone to go after Hill. He should produce top 10 2B numbers and it didn't seem like Boxy was going to be stingy with him. If I didn't have Kinsler I would have been all over him. I also like both sides of the trade, but give the edge to Sammy. I think Hill could have pulled a top 50 prospect back (speculation, I don't know who else had 2B interest). I'd rather have the #5 and an already cemented top 50 guy than Rodon.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I was actually planning on pursuing Hill after the cutdown, seeing as I'll probably need a 2B next year.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Rodon's a beast and will be a top 2-3 prospect by 2015. I offered Carlos Martinez and a draft pick upgrade elsewhere so Boxy wasnt the only one willing to pay up for it

I really could have used a guy like Hill, but boxy and me are in similar re-building type positions and I couldn't' think of anything that made sense. Hill Should be a good producer for a few years yet.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Value isn't horrible, I'm just not sure about cashing that chip in to use Hill/Walker at util. Sammy, if you feel like trading Walker or Hill, let me know lol
