The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Buxton was the top hitter in FSL and MWL so he should get double points. Also, I no longer own him. No double points. Only the highest counts. Must of used the Owned Prospects Page, it's out of date.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Theres a note at the top of that thread saying it's only updated in-season. If Chris Owings is worth more points than Buxton, then these points are meaningless.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Also, there needs to be a positional bonus for CF.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Its outdated, but from what I can tell, my team is around 90 points. Dont really think anyone comes close to that
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 This makes me realize that I forgot to add positional adjustment when I made my total. Take these calculations, substract Nicolino and Blackburn then add in Maikel Franco and the results are decent. That being said, I agree that the system is serioulsy dumb. It treast every league as if they had the same depth and as if there weren't big gaps in talent between certain spots in the ranking. It's bad science if I've ever seen it. The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 If Chris Owings is worth more points than Buxton, then these points are meaningless. Mike Foltynewicz is #3 in all MiLB. How can these points be Meaningless!
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 prospect lists definitely just taken from 'owned prospects' list on the DDL forum (last updated Oct 7)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) A few more thoughts: leagues at the same level never have equal depths of talent, so best pitcher in the FSL is not the same as best pitcher in the CAL, and so on. Also, being the best pitcher in a AAA league is definitely not better than being the best pitcher in a AA league. There are some problematic assumptions here. Edited October 29, 2013 by Dr. Dinger
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Would anyone trade a top 12 MiLB pick for a pick in the 20-23 range and the #53 pick? I may be looking to do that swap, so if it works, PM me.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 I wish, I wish, I wish I were a fish! I do believe that Raul Mondesi Jr. was #4 in the SALLY, top hitting prospect, so I should have an extra ~9 points or whatever.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Has anyone given any thought to what their 20 man roster will look like? I'm thinking I'll go 10 bats, 7 starters, 3 relievers, but I may go 10/8/2 or even 9/8/3. I'm curious what other GMs are planning. I fought to get a 20 man limit (and I stand by it for parity's sake), but it presents some hard choices.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I'm thinking 10 hitters, 6 starters, 4 relievers. I didn't see myself keeping as many of 4 relievers, but I think that's the way its going to shake out.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 You guys should try having a bad team. Mine was pretty easy.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 You guys should try having a bad team. Mine was pretty easy. That's where my 4 relievers came from
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Ya I got a s*** load on my roster right now and I am trying to figure it out. I would say 11 hitters, 6 Starters, 3 Relievers. Pitching is not really my concern at the moment I fell like I got some reliability now this year unlike last with additions of Gray and Wacha next season (Hoping they can continue what they are doing). There are some hitting positions that are big question marks so I wanna carry an extra bat or 2. I think it is really is where you think you got the most depth and reliability. But the off season is not done yet so that could change.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 You guys should try having a bad team. Mine was pretty easy. It also depends on what your Waiver Draft position is. Say you had #1 and you knew you were going to take Abreu, you wouldn't have to carry a 1B heading into the draft. It is an easier decision for rebuilding teams for sure, but that's the whole point. Make the contenders trim more talent for redistribution.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 A couple weeks after the cutdown date.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I keep an active list of who is above and below the keep line. Right now I'm at 12/7/1. For me it's all about value and not positional need. After the cut-down there will still be plenty of offseason left to structure your roster properly.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Probably 12 bats, 6 SP and 2 relivers
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 It is going to be a tough decision on what young pitchers I wanna cut. Right now mine's looking 9/9/3. I'm thanking myself now for keeping Puig on my MiLB roster.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 5/5/10 That's a rather bold strategy to say the least.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 It's so crazy, it just might work.
