NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 FWIW, he was apparently on this forum on Saturday: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?p=71693241. It seems he has shifted his interest to hockey due to non-contention, and should be back.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I also want to send out a thanks Dinger's way. Transferring all the rosters and sorting out the draft picks is tedious. All darrells are doing a great job keeping this league organized and running as smooth as possible!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Congrats to Twist and Trout on winning the title. Man that division is one tough one ah. Also, thanks to Andrew and NJH for all the work they've done throughout the season to make this league great! Cheers!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 First trade of the off-season, that didn't take long.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 First trade of the off-season, that didn't take long. No time to waste. I have a championship dynasty team to build.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I think both will turn out to be good. I just need starting way more then I need a 3B.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I got in touch with Sammy, he is definitely still down, just been busy with work the last month.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I'll sure have a great rotation in this league pretty soon..... oh wait http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/10/quick-hits-wainwright-dbacks-hultzen-royals.html Mariners southpaw Danny Hultzen underwent left shoulder labrum and rotator-cuff surgery on Tuesday and could miss the entire 2014 season while recovering, Geoff Baker of The Seattle Times reports. at least Hultzen is on my MiLB roster, unlike Bundy. Why didn't this happen way back at the start of the year when the injury came up!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Just sent Marco Estrada and my 5th rounder to War Puigs for the 24th pick. It's confirmed on the ProBoard.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Just sent Marco Estrada and my 5th rounder to War Puigs for the 24th pick. It's confirmed on the ProBoard. It was good dealing with you. Should be able to get a good guy at 24.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 It was good dealing with you. Should be able to get a good guy at 24. I would think so but I may also trade the pick sometime after the roster cut-off and before the draft. This was a good time to convert assets into picks and free up a roster spot. Depending on my team needs I may keep the pick or convert it back into a roster player. If I do keep the pick, I certainly won't mind selecting at that part of the draft. That should be the part of the draft where attention starts turning away from the new draftees and towards break out players. That's a good place to be picking especially with a deep draft class coming up.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 How bout that Sonny Gray? Dominating the Tigers on the big stage with 96 MPH heat and a hammer curve. Not bad for a 55th overall pick!

Not bad for a 55th overall pick! Salazar was even more of a steal. Can't remember where he went, but I thought it was the 5th or 6th round.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Salazar went one spot before I took Folty, in the early 80s I think. Not gonna lie, Salazar wasn't even on my board.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Salazar was even more of a steal. Can't remember where he went, but I thought it was the 5th or 6th round. I was interested in Salazar but wasn't sold on his ability to stay in the rotation/stay healthy. Seems to have been well worth the risk for BTS though. There were a lot of guys taken in the 3rd-5th round who have broken out. My guy is Maikel Franco.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I'm not sold that Salazar is ever going to be a 200 IP guy, but the K rate is filthy.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 How bout that Sonny Gray? Dominating the Tigers on the big stage with 96 MPH heat and a hammer curve. Not bad for a 55th overall pick! And at this point last year, he looked like a Deck McGuire-ish bust
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 That's probably the only reason he got passed over in our spring draft. Unlike Deck though, Sonny has the arsenal to get whiffs and a very nice GB rate.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Scouting scouting scouting Anecdotal *proof* that you can't nerd scout from your computer chair. Doesn't work. You need eyes on the talent and 20-80 grades on the tools! Only then will you be good enough to draft a Sonny Gray and lose in the Darrell Dynasty quarterfinals.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 God only knows how high I could have finished if I burned more early picks on defense-only shortstops in short season ball!
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 God only knows how high I could have finished if I burned more early picks on defense-only shortstops in short season ball! Clearly this isn't a dig at me, because Raul Jr. played full season ball this year (at 17 years old, wow!).
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I'm sure he'll be an asset for you by 2017 if we can incorporate DRS by then.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 I'm sure he'll be an asset for you by 2017 if we can incorporate DRS by then. We'll talk next offseason after his Profarian leap to top 10 prospect status. And then again the year after that, when he's numero uno.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Lollllllll @ Alcides without the SBs
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 What is the deal with roster limits in the off season. Are we allowed to trade a MLB player straight up for a MilB player and worry about it when we have to make the roster cuts?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Are we allowed to trade a MLB player straight up for a MilB player and worry about it when we have to make the roster cuts? Yes we can. No limits. As long as it's all in order by the time we make our roster cuts.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Unlimited roster size until the February cutdown.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 The hot stove is starting to heat up, a little Tuesday afternoon trade for ya. To sammy: Asdrubal, Rasmus, Sonny Gray To me: Ian Desmond, Kyle Crick
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 I like sammy's end. Good buy low on a surprisingly young Assdribble + Gray is already doing neat-o stuff in the big leagues + Colby is gravy. Can hardly believe that Desmond is actually the older SS.
