KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Just a reminder to all GMs that waivers DO NOT carry over to next year, they reset based on standings BEFORE the annual waiver draft. So if you have a high waiver currently, use it or lose it. Like your bank accout when you die, you can't take it with you. I, for one, didn't realize that though I don't recall missing out on anyone I wanted.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Funny how on the same day, I gain Danny Duffy but lose Jeremy Hellickson. I can't imagine Duffy being much worse than Hellickson has been the last month, so this probably ends up being a wash.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I, for one, didn't realize that though I don't recall missing out on anyone I wanted. This rule was clearly written and posted to the Rules section prior to the season.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Waiver Draft order will be determined by the standings of the previous season with a weighted lottery on the Top 5 picks (to help prevent intentional tanking). Nowhere was it implied that waivers roll over to subsequent seasons so I'm not sure why anyone would infer that.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 This rule was clearly written and posted to the Rules section prior to the season. Oh sorry if that came off as if I was implying otherwise. I'm just glad you reminded us is all.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Yeah, no worries. Someone asked me in a PM so I thought I'd remind everyone. If one person asks a question, usually several people are wondering the same thing.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I'm assuming they'll go 1-2 in the waiver draft next spring. Hopefully Boxy doesn't f*** up that selection, it will be big for his rebuild (assuming the ping pong balls bounce his way).
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Ditto, I've been waiting for MAG or Abreu, but this seems unlikely FFS's. Who is MAG? Is he an international player coming over as well?
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Ditto, I've been waiting for MAG or Abreu, but this seems unlikely FFS's. September call ups might plop someone interesting/unowned into the system... maybe. I dunno.

Hopefully Boxy doesn't f*** up that selection, it will be big for his rebuild (assuming the ping pong balls bounce his way). How is my old team doing in the FC? Just trying to remember who I had on my roster, I'm guessing it's pretty bad. I think my Aces were CC and Grienke, best offensive piece was Zimmerman, catcher was Grandal, Wie Yin Chen might have been there... s***, I can't even remember. Uggla? Chooch?
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Would I be able to pluck a player up if I'm not in the PO's? Yes, eliminated teams aren't locked. You can make add/drops even if you're playing for nothing.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Note that the trade deadline is on Sunday. If you are going away for the long weekend, you might want to make any final trade offers tonight/tomorrow.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 I think that your old team was torn down and rebuilt by Santos, he's made a s*** ton of trades and basically has no farm, he's currently sitting in 5th fighting for a play-off spot. No, that wasn't my team. I took over booster's team for half a season and then quit when we started the DDL.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Santos took over another team, the guy who I expansion drafted with.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I believe the team in question is now mired in a mediocre 12th place (and run by a douchebag).
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I'm in an epic rebuild. Last place at the moment, but: Goldschmidt Carpenter Myers Yelich Eaton Sandoval Grandal Lindor J. Fernandez Bradley Cingrani J. Gray Aaron Sanchez Ventura Gausman And potentially the 1-1 pick next year. Should be decent in a couple years.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Hes the first guy I ever blacklisted, Spanky. I won't deal with him going forward, regardless of the offer.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Oh it moves frequently. Of course, 1/2 of those arms will blow up or fizzle out and I need a couple more bats. 2015 baby. Also, Spanky, get the f*** away from my Rodon, bro.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Also, I forgot I own Syndergaard too. And some dudes like Hutchison, Pineda, Dahl, Berrios and Alfaro who could be guys.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) Looking back to the original draft, I have 13 out of 25 that have survived on my roster. That's pretty near a 50% turnover rate. I'd only have 11 if you discard the two players(Wallace and McGowan) I dropped and then eventually picked back up months later. That seems like a high turnover rate. Or is that normal? Edited August 29, 2013 by The Cats Ass
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Anyone want Will Venable for their playoff run? Nice power/speed combo this year (20 HR/15 SB).
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) Damn, Justin Williams just turned 18 and he's already been promoted to the MWL. Dominated 2 levels in a short amount of time, not sure if I should be happy about this or not. Edited August 30, 2013 by Boxcar
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 If anyone has a usable SP available for a package of Wade Davis, Boxberger, and late picks let me know. Have a look at my roster and let me know who you would consider useable..
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Holy crap your DL is huge. I'm not really seeing anything. His last usable pitcher was Estrada who he originally got from me but I recently re-acquired for Blackburn/J. Garcia.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 His last usable pitcher was Estrada who he originally got from me but I recently re-acquired for Blackburn/J. Garcia. I never had estrada, dont want him either. I do have a little interest in blackburn though.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I never had estrada, dont want him either. I do have a little interest in blackburn though. Oh sorry. Got you mixed up with someone else. I have a hard time k eeping everyone straight. Edit: It was Jaysfever. He also has a ton of ineligible guys.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Since nicasio returned from injury on july 12 he's made 9 starts. Over those he has a 5W 3.38era, 7.4 k/9, 8.1h/9, .704ops and that includes the one start he got rock in atlanta.
