The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Christian Yelich - 41 Games in AA; 6HR, 4SB, .262/.342/.518; He's been injured at times this year so I'm not worried about the numbers, his swing is still Awesome! Yasiel Puig - He was mashing in the minors, so I'm not sure what to call what he's doing in the majors. 33 Games in MLB; 8HR, 5SB, .409/.436/.667; I'll take that. Joey Gallo - 83G in A-ball; 26HR!!!, 8SB, 135SO!!!, .225/.311/.540; He might have the most power in the minors, but he needs to cut down on his strikeouts. A.J. Cole - 16GS 88IP in A+; 9.98 K/9, 2.24 BB/9, 4.58 ERA but 3.45 FIP; Ratios are in line with his career so far and ERA looked a better until he blew up for 7 ER in his last start. Best Performance So Far: 7.1in 4h 0r 0er 2bb 10so. Mason Williams - 69G in A+; 3HR, 10SB, 31/44 BB/K, .256/.334/.355; Since he was traded to team Cat's Ass: 24Gm, 4SB, .326/.375/.449. Mark Appel - Sign with the Astros after being the #1 overall pick in the Entry Draft. Made his Pro debut in Class-A last Friday went 2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs (1 earned), 1so, He retired the last five hitters he faced. Rafael de Paula - 13GS 64.1IP in A; 13.4 K/9, 3.2BB/9, 2.94 ERA --- Recently called up to A+ where he's pitched good in one start and bad in the other. BPSF: 6.1in 3h 1r 1er 1bb 12so. Rafael Montero - 11GS 66.2IP in AA; 9.7 K/9, 1.4 BB/9, 7.20 K/BB, 2.43 ERA --- In AAA at PCL he has struggled a little at times over 6 starts, 2.9 BB/9, 7.8 K/9. BPSF: 7.0in 2h 0r 0er 1bb 6so. Phil Bickford - Still unsigned by the Blue Jays, 10th overall pick in the Entry Draft. Delino DeShields - 68G in A+; 26SB, 2HR, .290/.386/.401; He is fast but he needs to learn the fine art of stealing bases as he's been caught 12 times so far this year. He might be the fastest guy not named Hamilton. Matt Purke - Can this guy stay healthy? 8 GS this year after only making 3 other appearances in his pro career. between A and A+ he has 2.4 BB/9, 11.0 K/9, 4.60 K/BB over 37.2 innings. BPSF: 6.0in 1h 0r 0er 0bb 8so. Laika Community Moderator Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 Yasiel Puig - He was mashing in the minors, so I'm not sure what to call what he's doing in the majors. 33 Games in MLB; 8HR, 5SB, .409/.436/.667; I'll take that. He's "Jeff Francouering", is what he's doing.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 My first round pick for next year is totally available for a SP. Could package with an OF that nobody wants. Or an All Star like Brett Cecil!!!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Even though I didn't have any picks in the first or second round this year, I was happy with the picks I made. Cesar Puello could be a steal for me, and guys like Michal Johnson, Dillson Herrera and Tyler Pike could turn out to be decent picks as well. Still like my draft from March as well, though likely would have taken Sano over d'Arnaud if I had to do it again. Still have Arenado, Singleton, and Matty Davidson.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Nice farm Cats Ass, although BP and BA think you overpaid for Deshields, as both Heaney and Glasnow are Top 50 guys and shooting up the lists. From trading Melky, I ended up with Dempster + Sonny Gray + Andrew Heaney + Tyler Glasnow + Robbie Erlin. Not a bad haul for a broken down PEDo.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 He's "Jeff Francouering", is what he's doing. Except Francoeur sucks and Puig is the real deal. And plus, you can't compare a white guy to a black guy, especially one that's Cuban!
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Oscar Taveras - "He could win batting titles" in scouting reports makes me happy. Danny Hultzen - Has been great while healthy, and I'll need him next year. Nice to see in Tacoma too. Gregory Polanco - Rocketing up the prospect rankings. Nice speed, some pop. Alex Meyer - Drawing positive scouting reports, swing and miss stuff, just needs to tame the walks Jonathan Schoop - Disappointing season so far, some hope in the age/level Yordano Ventura - Having some trouble in the PCL, but is generating great swing and miss. Hope he's a starter. Lucas Giolito - Better be good when he's back pitching, or I'm going to miss James Shields. Kohl Stewart - WHIP of 1!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing him play next year when it will mean something. Nick Ciuffo - See above Nick Delmonico - Walking like a champ, hitting for some pop. .859 fld% is concerning even if the stat is terrible. Max Kepler - Really just a fun wildcard. Jesse Hahn - Big fastball. 23 in A+, but hasn't pitched much due to TJ. Tampa pitch, what do I have to worry about Graduated: Marcell Ozuna - Holding his own as a 22 in the majors. Trademark pop hasn't shown up in the bigs yet. Gained CF eligibility this year, hopefully he keeps it for a few years.

I know. It hurts me seeing that. But I think Heany is one of those guys with a low ceiling but a high floor, and Glasnow still has major control problems but he could be great. I like Deshields and think he has a high ceiling especially for a middle infielder.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Lucas Giolito - Better be good when he's back pitching, or I'm going to miss James Shields. Whoa I didn't even know you traded for Giolito! What were all the parts involved in the deal?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Looking to add a quality reliever, holds or saves. I'd prefer to move one or two of these guys to get it done: Mike Morse, Chris Carter, Raul Ibanez, Huston Street, Vinnie Pestano, Robbie Erlin, Joe Kelly, Jason Motte. All my picks are also in play, as are Jon Lester, Michael Pineda, or Ryan Zimmerman as part of a larger deal.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Whoa I didn't even know you traded for Giolito! What were all the parts involved in the deal? Giolito and Ventura for James Shields.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I would do a farm update, but too many of my guys are s***ing the bed and it wouldn't make me look good.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I'm looking to add an OF or possible a 2B for a draft pick(s). Kendrick is available, though he'd cost more than just a draft pick. Beckham is available as well, same with Mercer and I could likely move one of those guys for a 2014 pick, though Beckham would be more expensive of the two. Alfonso Soriano is on the block - he's been tearing it up at that plate as of late.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Alfonso Soriano is on the block - he's been tearing it up at that plate as of late. I can confirm this. He just destroyed me last week. 4 homers and something like a 1.2 OPS
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I would do a farm update, but too many of my guys are s***ing the bed and it wouldn't make me look good. I made you a wise offer.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I can confirm this. He just destroyed me last week. 4 homers and something like a 1.2 OPS Another HR tonight haha. Also has 10 SB's which are a pleasant surprise!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I made you a wise offer. Never mind. I pulled the offer. I'm trying to swing a larger trade using the player I offered.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Once again I would like to reiterate that Chris Perez is on the block for a pick/prospect. His stats won't be the prettiest but he will get you that save PRODUKSHUN.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 What kind of a pick are you looking to get for Soriano? Send me a wise offer. He actually had 2 HR's last night lol!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I've been thinking that something should happen to the last place finisher (maybe not this year but moving forward). Then I saw this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=7b0r408vpIg#at=83
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Bumped so we can watch together as his ERA dips below 4. Meanwhile, on the Hisashi Iwakuma front....
TRM Verified Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 These are fun and relevant because 11-1 lawl. Old board is a gold mine. "Meanwhile, MPL member TheZachLeeFan has the second worst z-score and has gone 8-18-2... time to replace him in DDL?" -Time to replace you? "Well, you'll have even less to say after I clean your clock" -True "You'll have joined the line behind Spanky, Hurl, Greenwood and Boxy. They don't seem to be talking smack any more." -Hmmm? What's that? "I am now first in both leagues. If you don't like it, you better step up your game." -I guess I did, oops.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Bumped so we can watch together as his ERA dips below 4. Sell high while you can.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Oh god, I didn't even know it was this bad. Hisashi since BTS traded Lawrie for him: 29 IP 22 ER 10 HR 33 Hits 4+ ER in every single start
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I'm just gonna keep my 25-year old arm. Your 25 year old arm still has a 4 BB/9 and is due for some home run rate regression. He is what I thought he was, a back end guy who gets you strikeouts. He wouldn't be a keeper on my team, I can't speak for you.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Oh god, I didn't even know it was this bad. Hisashi since BTS traded Lawrie for him: 29 IP 22 ER 10 HR 33 Hits 4+ ER in every single start That's a fine wet blanket, sir.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 You *******. I hadn't looked at his stats in like two weeks because I didn't want to see that s***. You're the worst. I'm just happy to see the Werth trade finally swing my way at least an inch or two. A 30 day ~7 ERA combined with a .~950 OPS for Werth will do that.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Is crossing leagues Kosher? Probably not.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Any idea what they've done since the trade? It looked for awhile like a landslide win for me, but most or all of that edge has probably disappeared. Trade was Apr 23 Iwakuma was a stud for 8 of 9 starts between then and his recent stretch of gas cans. In May: 2.53 ERA, .265 OBPa, 4.63 K/BB. Then his first 2 June starts were 8 and 7 shutout innings. While he was doing that, Werth got hurt and missed basically all of May. Then his June wOBA was .366 and his July so far is .422. Still pretty much up in the air. ~4.00 FIP SP for a 34 year old injury prone CF eligible with across the board upside seems fair though.
