Laika Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 I haven't given it to much thought but I wouldn't waste a high pick on someone who pitches at coors This is actually a good point.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 So what time is our draft going to start tomorrow? Because I'm going to be drinking heavily throughout the day and night, and don't want to miss my pick.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 So what time is our draft going to start tomorrow? Because I'm going to be drinking heavily throughout the day and night, and don't want to miss my pick. I'll let njh decide this one, but IMO we can start the draft any time tonight. No one is probably going to draft any 2nd-day guys anyway.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 I said initially that we would start the draft on the 8th, so let's just stick to that. Jays_Fever can kick off the draft at midnight if he wants. We won't start clocking picks until tomorrow night though (let's say 5pm).
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I'm out of town this weekend but I'll be there for my pick I'm sure.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I'm picking Bryant, but I thought the draft started Sunday and was just going to wait, I'll make it official when I get home
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I'll probably take a good look at some of the Cardinals guys from today lol. At 3rd I was thinking I'd get Bryant, but it seems like I'll be getting Gray, which is nice. Unless I take Gray....
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Am i supposed to start a new thread posting my pick?

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Okay I was looking at the wrong league..thought i was going crazy
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 A little off topic, but does anyone remember if Keith Law's top 100 draft prospects insider article was posted on here?

Jays_Fever can kick off the draft at midnight if he wants. We won't start clocking picks until tomorrow night though (let's say 5pm). Why wait until 5 pm? Let's start it at noon so we can get some picks in before people start having dinner and heading out. Since jays_fever has already made the 1st overall selection, I don't really see the harm in letting the next few guys pick now if they want to, with the understanding that the first draft window officially begins tomorrow.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I'm surprised Bryant went 1st overall. I guess he just could pass up the power. I had to go with Appel 2nd. It was close between him and Gray, but I had to go with Appel because of a combo of Gray getting drafted to the Rockies, Appel going first in the MLB draft, and Gray getting addicted to Adderall and shooting up the draft boards just this year.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I'm surprised Bryant went 1st overall. I guess he just could pass up the power. I'm not surprised. Bryant, Appel and Gray basically form their own tier and all things being equal, you should always go with the position player.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Alright I took Jonathan Gray. Gibbers is up!! Darn. So much for Gray dropping. I was hoping he'd fall out of the top 5.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Damn, I was hoping Gray would slip to #55.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 but Gray is part of the clear top three. I would have done the same. It's not great that he's in Colorado but it's probably a mistake to value context over talent.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 8, 2013 Author Posted June 8, 2013 Yahoo thread works the best since it bumps everyone's email as the draft moves along.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Looking at the draft I though for sure that I'd be drafting whoever was left between Stewart or Frazier... than I remembered that Gibbers was above me... and its more than possible he could pick WAY of the board.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Okay! Gibbers could take Moran, that's who I would have taken fourth. But he's all about upside, so probably Stewart or Frazier. I'm not really sold on Moran for this type of format. He's safer then the other two granted, but I sort of feel you need to draft upside here. I guess time will tell
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Okay! Gibbers could take Moran, that's who I would have taken fourth. But he's all about upside, so probably Stewart or Frazier. My darkhorse would be Bickford. Very young and pitches (potentially) for the Jays, that could appeal to Gibbers. He did take Osuna in the second round of the last draft.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I'm pretty happy Bryant went first. He's the only guy that I would have really regretted missing with the 4th overall I traded. I'm happy too.. It made my decision easier. I would have had a tough decision on weather to take Gray or Bryant second.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I'm pretty happy Bryant went first. He's the only guy that I would have really regretted missing with the 4th overall I traded. This will be the thinnest MiLB draft we ever have. At least next year there will be a mixture of breakout guys and Rule 4 guys. I think this real-life Rule 4 was a pretty weak crop too.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I'm looking to package a couple of these guys for a bat, preferably a 1B, CF or OF. I'd also consider a pick upgrade for some of these guys. Ryan Dempster Nick Tepesch John Lackey Fernando Rodney Burch Smith Jon Jay Denard Span Chris Coghlan Jason Motte Chris Carpenter

What you looking for?
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Anyone know if Gibbers is around? I just want to know if I'll be picking tonight or tomorrow.
