KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I inquired about him a few times, I was willing to offer prospects and picks (a lot better than the 50 whatever) but Kat never responded to me so I figured he wasn't interested in anything I had to offer. I may have gotten you confused with Boxy. I had a lot of talks with him but we were never close.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I don't really get it either. If Scherzer is such a good "get" than how come nobody else was buzzing on him? I made Buxton available for Scherzer and didn't even get a response.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I made Buxton available for Scherzer and didn't even get a response. I was kind of awol for a bit with a friend's wedding but I thought I had gotten back to everyone who made me offers. I have a very hard time parsing who's who in this league so I may have missed your message but I don't recall seeing Buxton's name. One of the reasons I finally reluctantly joined this board is that I was feeling like my communication with the rest of the league was breaking down. In the case of Scherzer, I was looking to swap MLB assets and I still don't get the impression that I was going to get that done with anyone other than NJH. I guess in hindsight it's obvious that in a setup like this if you put a player on the market and aren't specific about what you're looking for, people will assume you just want to do a MLB style seller's deal so I'm largely to blame for putting myself in a position to get offers that weren't at all what I was looking for.

Two days ago when you wrote me back about Konerko. Maybe you just skimmed over the Konerko part and deleted it, I dunno.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Oh... That was you. Yeah I totally missed the second part of that. I wasn't going to do a straight up for prospects deal but I would have at least checked out your roster. I'm glad I'm back in this thread. You get more deals done when you just put things out in the open here.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 Can someone add everyone's board name in brackets after their team name in the Commissioner's Note? We did that in MPL, it makes everything so much easier. Sometimes I spend a long time just trying to figure out who's who and I can see others are also getting mixed up. So, you'd have "BALCO Pharm Team (NorthOf49): Zack Wheeler..." Maybe, if someone gets around to it.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Maybe, if someone gets around to it. I already did that on the Proboard, it's easy enough to cross reference.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 Right. All team names and owner names are listed on proboards, under "Rosters".
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 In 'Rosters', now I see it. Would be easier if it was also Yahoo, but no big deal. Felix Doubront tonight: 1 HR, 6 BB... 1 ER. Good ERA despite a terrible FIP in the game, yet NJH picked him up for a good FIP despite terrible ERA. Rick Porcello's been good so I don't really care how Doubront ends up anyway. LOL Njh trades Doubront to BTS for a 4th round pick.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Felix Doubront: RTTM $20 bet on end of season ERA?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Over a 220 inning sample? Absolutely. I'll take the 25-year old lefty with 9K/9 stuff and the sub-4 xFIP and cross my fingers. I predict he loses his rotation spot by July and is not a keeper for you.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Hum... Doesn't look like the "reply to" feature works here.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I understand, guess it's worth a shot for you. You have a really good rotation regardless. Doubront is ownable as a Ks play alone. He's a great late week play if you're down by a few Ks or a W and you have nothing to lose in the ratios. Would own again.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 Doubront has a 5.3 BB/9 after today's game and his 7.4 SwStr% is 1.2 percentage points below average. He also has a K/9 over 10 and a 3.31 FIP. All of this is meaningless though since it's a puny sample size, save for the context of him potentially losing his rotation spot, which I suppose is still possible but considering that he only allowed 1 run tonight and Allen Webster got shelled in his last spotty, I'm guessing that it won't be particularly imminent.

He's 25 years old and a hair of talent / a league change away from being a lefty Yovani Gallardo. He had a better K rate, BB rate, and xFIP than Matt Moore last year. It's a Dynasty league. Solid SP6 (or whatever) and future play.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 am I missing why everyone's so casual about Doubront missing 2.5 mph off his fastball? Probably because he struck out a batter per inning last year and his K rate has gone up this year. He's young. It could easily tick up another 1 or 2 MPH next year.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Am I missing why everyone cares so much about the impact of a 6th or 7th starter
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Am I missing why everyone cares so much about the impact of a 6th or 7th starter Apparently Felix Doubront is a very divisive player.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I'm looking to move Scott Kazmir or John Lackey for a pick. No reasonable offer refused.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Denard Span could also be had for a pick.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 I kind of want two of those players, but I don't really have any room. Damn.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I kind of want two of those players, but I don't really have any room. Damn. Me too. I'm amazed how much roster crunch there is in such a deep league.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Still looking to deal DeShields, high draft picks and/or Dempster/Gardner/Gose. Want youngish guys, willing to deal #10 and #11 picks for a star young player.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Burch Smith and Sean Marshall are available for a pick.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Well Since this apparently works, Jeff Neiman, Santana, Chisnehall, Betancourt, and any of my s***** relievers are available for a pick. Also Prado is available for a young SP
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Is that a package for a pick? NVM you dealt Marshall. I'm looking to move pick #12 for something. I can package Gose or Gardner, but I'm looking for a decent young player. I'll package Hill for something REALLY good.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I'll think about it and maybe get back to you. Sent you emailz.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I could probably spare one of my catchers. They are both low end guys not worth Walker who I'm not really interested in anyways.
