theblujay Verified Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Well the Leafs have only lost to the C team (Chicago, Columbus, Colorado and Carolina) so I'll say they win tonight and then lose tomorrow vs. Calgary. I'm excited to see Kadri on the 1st line.
theblujay Verified Member Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 That's a pretty solid cross-sport comp. Not perfect, but there are some obvious parallels. He's like JPA, sans the disaster 2013, and with far less charisma. Terrible defender who gets overrated due to high points/production totals. The difference is Dion is actually good. I don't know how you can say you've watched him this year and think he's been playing poorly. I think he's looked great so far, much better than last year.

I don't think he's the worst thing ever, I just think he's overrated. Like I said, I think he's a 2nd pair D-man on a good team.

I think he's probably better than you think, but maybe its just because he looks so much better than the end of last year, when he was pretty terrible.

"He looks better than pretty terrible" vs. 35 shots against per game while he's their TOI horse hmmmm. Numbers, or 12 game eyeball report from a sports fan who thinks that Ryan Goins is the second coming of Alomar? hmmm. tricky. very tricky.

I don't know anything about hockey stats beyond basic ones, but sports like hockey are much harder to accurately put into numbers than baseball. I'll go with my observations over a stat about shots allowed, which involves so much more than just Dion.

I observe him being a hack defender, and some dubious stats seem to back it up. You observe him having a career turnaround based on a 12 game sample size at 28 years old (you already admitted that you thought he was pretty terrible before this year). Good on ya.

I'm not expecting a career turnaround. I'm just saying that he's playing much better than he was at the end of last year when I thought he was abysmal at times. He's probably overrated, but I think he's a good player and I hope they resign him, but not at that price.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Kessel is on fire!!! Beauty Bozak to 3rd line plz
theblujay Verified Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Kessel! I'm glad we've got this guy locked up. All it took was one shift for Kadri to make an impact on the first line.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Holy f*** that Vanek trade is bad. His production is a marginal upgrade on what Moulson gave them, and they pay a 1st and 2nd. This isn't a team that will contend anyway. Apparently my cousin told me a bunch of sabre fans at his school hated the trade and gave up on the franchise..I didnt even know what to say..
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 It's quite amazing how many supporters this scrub has. He is pretty much the JP Arencibia of the Leafs. Leafs - Bozak Jays - Arencibia Raptors - Derozan/Gay Ugh this city
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 The f***? They'll flip Moulson off for a 1st, maybe more, at the deadline. Two 1sts and a 2nd for a pending UFA who will be 31 next season. I love the deal for them. Well it's a high school so it doesnt surprise me, although apparently a teacher was leading the charge lol. He does wear a C on his jersey
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 On a unrelated note..how the f*** are the OIlers in dead last place again..havent they had the top pick for the past 4 years?
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 hypothetical trade: Kadri for Yakupov would you?
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Poor D, poor goaltending, soft forward core In sum, a poor front office
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 As a militant Leafs hater: no. In Kadri you have a guy who could pot 30 goals and 70+ points while bringing a physical presence and maybe some day being a average or better defensive player. You have to be confident that Yak will become a consistent 40+ goal guy to make that deal, and I don't think anybody is confident about that right now. Agreed on this. Yakupov certainly isn't looking like a sure thing atm and Kadri has really developed well.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Kessel and JVR!!! f*** KADRI.. looks okay

Kadri age 19 to 21: 8-11-19 in 51 GP. Yakupov looked like a pretty surefire perennial 30 goal guy before this season started. I think there's a pretty decent chance that he's just nadir-ing / adjusting right now. I know Yak looks like crum so far this year, but I think you'd almost have to do the swap based on the upside/value/tools/ages. Really, I was more interested in who would say "no" than I was about the actual question. You surprised me, bts.... surprised, disappointed. Maybe a bit of both.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Kessel is so damn f***ing sick. What a dirty shot.
theblujay Verified Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Leafs - Bozak Jays - Arencibia Raptors - Derozan/Gay Ugh this city Ok the first two might be accurate but the raps one is way off lol. Derozan seems like a great guy, hard working, getting better every year and really wants to improve. Gay is a great player, but is overpaid.
theblujay Verified Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Wow Kessel is unbelievable when he goes on these streaks.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Kadri is also a C and the Leafs need quality C's.
Frag Verified Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Anyone who doubts Kessel is a bloody moron.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I'm ready to see Orr / Mclaren fight..
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Rielly leading Leafs in ice time through 2 periods. If phaneuf is asking for 6+ what would you guys do for D next year? How much would franson be asking for? It will cost lots to keep both.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Rielly with his first!!! Kessel 10 points in the last 4 games
