Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Matthews with the big 40, does he get to 60? Holy f*** they are going to miss the playoffs when Matthews scores like 55 goals. The Leafs are the Mets of hockey.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Pffttt... miss the playoffs.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 What were Sandin and Johnsson thinking, brutal.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 lol... worst 3rd period team.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 f*** man, lucky. Good games by JT/Matthews and Marner.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 HAPPY HOCKEY DAY IN CANADA!!!
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 lol... worst 3rd period team. They are frustrating to watch. They need to dump and chase the puck more and shoot the puck more. Instead you got Marner trying to do spinorama's around 4 guys coughing up the puck.

Even if barely making the playoffs means you are worse than more than half the entire league. And also ignore that every team in front has at least one game in hand on the Leaves and that the team directly behind them has two. And that the Islanders are hilariously doing way better than the Leaves post Tavares signing. Aside from that minor stuff, go leaves go eh. Crack open some molson's
Frag Verified Member Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Weird fact: Detroit has a combined 5-0-0 record against the Bruins and Habs this season. WTF?
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Weird fact: Detroit has a combined 5-0-0 record against the Bruins and Habs this season. WTF? Hockey is basically random.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Oh, I didn't see this earlier... Pens getting to the punch early. Pricey but their all about Lord Stanley. The Wild will flip Galchenyuk at the deadline to a contender.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 A contender would want Galchenyuk? Hmmm
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 A contender would want Galchenyuk? Hmmm Sure, why not? Cost you a song and he's just north of a million remaining on the contract.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Sure, why not? Cost you a song and he's just north of a million remaining on the contract. Well he's probably a downgrade for any of a decent team's top 6 forwards and he's not a bottom 6 forward. Strikes me as a "negative WAR" hockey player tbh but I don't know what the fancy stats say
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Sure, why not? Cost you a song and he's just north of a million remaining on the contract. I think his best fit is competing for a contract for next year on a non contender like Minnesota. If a contending team has a need for a top 9 forward, they'd be better off giving up a bit more for a rental who has proven to be more than a talented flake.

He wasn't given much a chance in Pitt in consideration to ice time and he's only just 25.

Most likely sure, but that's not up to him until after the deadline.

No but what I'm saying is that I don't see any contenders being interested. They could rent a solid 3rd line guy for very little, someone more suited to playoff hockey.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Holy f***! I hate Jim Rutherford. As a Ducks fan I like the bar he just set, if someone pries Rakell out of Anaheim it should take a fair bit more than that.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Holy f***! I hate Jim Rutherford. Yeah, the 1st also? lol... big price paid. As a Ducks fan I like the bar he just set, if someone pries Rakell out of Anaheim it should take a fair bit more than that. Duck fan, how'd that happen... Paul Kariya?
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Yeah, the 1st also? lol... big price paid. Duck fan, how'd that happen... Paul Kariya? That was it, amazing player. But then I was mad about how he left and stuck with the team. Kariya was just reaching his peak when he got taken out by Gary Suter, vicious crosscheck in the jaw well after he had scored. Really was right up there in the conversation for best player in the world in that late 90s period where there wasn't a clear #1, but he just wasn't the same after that incident. Still productive but way more of a perimeter player.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Yeah, the 1st also? lol... big price paid. They also gave up their top prospect in Calen Addison, future stud. The Penguins have been pretty fortunate in the last couple of years with some of their non-prospects turning into solid role players and whatnot, but they will be in for a hell of a rebuild soon if Rutherford continues to mortgage their entire future for marginal roster upgrades. Is Zucker even that good?
