Leafs have such a long competitive window. All that notion that they can’t sign Nylander, Matthews and Marner is ridiculous. As is needing to trade Nylander right now for a defenceman. They have a strong group in the Marlies and have drafted high upside D the last two drafts. Not planning the parade, but a team that is already fun to watch for a hell of a lot more exciting!

There weren't any good ones on the FA market. That may come via trade. Also need centers. Bozak left, JVR left (winger, but 30+ goals lost). Need to replace goals and depth at center... Did both with this one signing.

My WTPDL team hopes that Johnsson pairs with Tavares.

 

My guess is you'll see him with Kadri and Brown on the 3rd line.

Leafs have barely anything on D, would have liked to build this as you need it when it matters.

 

And they are nowhere near the championship teams the Penguins built, in any respect of the game, but improving, which is good.

This is the NHL. Pretty much any team in the league could win the cup and it wouldn’t really be that surprising.

Not true. Just saw an article that states the best comparable to the Leafs now are the Golden State Warriors.

 

Seems the Leafs are winning multiple championships in the next 5 years because of this signing. Dynasty guaranteed.

I wouldn't even call myself a Leaf fan, but for the first time in a very long time, I'm actually looking forward to watching hockey. I stopped watching Leafs hockey not because the team was bad but because the process was terrible, but they rebuilt the right way, and now they're poised to be the Cubs of the NHL for several years. Just as I can't hate the Yankees for assembling an awesome young core, I don't get all the Leaf hatred. Yes, many of the fans are insufferable r-tards, but this team is going to be super fun to watch for any objective hockey fan.

This is like using the Facebook comments section to lump all Jays fans together. Like every fan base there are intelligent fans, and there are blockheads. You can usually tell the two apart pretty quickly.
