Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Now it will be even more enjoyable when the leaves get booted in the first round. It's all possible. It's even possible the Leafs don't make the playoffs. Stranger things have happened. But the right pieces are being put together so I'm optimistic. And if the Leafs do make a run it will be sweet seeing you all cringe.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 The smugness. I don't think the intent is for smugness...at least not for me. I think it's a combination of jubilation, excitement, relief. This fanbase has been kicked in the balls very hard for very long, so when things finally do appear to be turning the corner, it's a collective 'it's about time things are finally looking up. Finally we have something to cheer for and it feels like we can actually expect success.' At least that's how I feel as a Leaf fan for over 30 years.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 The smugness. Leaf fans get trolled like f*** in here, if you haven't noticed?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Leaf fans get trolled like f*** in here, if you haven't noticed? That too. If someone's gonna be a troll, expect a response.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Krylian is the epitome of all Leaves fans. Just a moron in the head. Your mommy's titty is waiting for you.

King Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 NHL offseason - Teams inexplicably letting Pavel Zadina fall to Detroit at 6. - Montreal showing interest in wife beater Slava Voynov when they previously traded PK Subban for his character. - Pittsburgh signs terrible hockey player Jack Johnson to a 5 year deal. Jack Johnson starts a flame war with Torts. - Ryan Reaves got 2 years, 2.75 mil. Among many mediocre players to get multi year million dollar contracts. - Flames traded Dougie Hamilton because he would rather go to Museums by himself than team lunch at Moxies. - Jets trade assets for cap space to sign Paul Stastny only to watch Stastny sign with Vegas then sit on their hands. - Senators AGM facing harassment charge for making advances on a 19 year old male bus driver. - Mike Hoffmans girlfriend harassing Erik Karlssons girlfriend about her miscarriage. - Islanders let franchise player JT sign with the Leafs in free agency, receive nothing in return. Anything else?
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 When I referred to Ryan Reaves as mediocre, I meant absolutely terrible.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Leafs trade Matt Martin back to the New York Islanders for goalie Eamon McAdam
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 NHL Teams give out multi year contracts to terrible players every off-season. Its like they just want to do something for the sake of doing it. I understand 2-year deals but the amount of role players getting 4 plus years is horrendous. These players always get waived or dumped or even sent to the minors.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Dubas is the best GM in the NHL just because he's young and understands basic statistics. Lou gets so much acclaim and he's objectively bad but is still better than 90% of the other dinosaurs. Dubas unloads that cap dump Martin back to Lou. What a joke. Well. I like what Dubas has done so far but let's not start deepthroating him just yet. Give him some time. Let's see if he can add some depth to the D and what he does with Matthews, Marner, and Nylander contract situations.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Dubas will only pay star players and nothing in between. He'll keep rotating young players in and out of the top 6 roles and they'll all be spoon fed 30 goals by the real star players. People act like other players can't score the goals JVR scored, for example. Any NHL player comes within 5 goals in either direction of JVR based on the positions he was in. PHI gives him 7M/year when Dubas will just promote some decent young dude and he'll score 5 goals less than JVR while making 6.5M less. If you waste a single cent on the 4th line, you're a horrible GM. Any NHL caliber athlete can give you 10 minutes a night on the 4th line for league minimum. Their job is insanely easy and there are hundreds of them in the AHL. Everything from Dubas indicates he knows all this already. The Canucks appear to be taking the opposite approach. Overpay a bunch of 4th liners. Unless they're trying to nab the top pick for the next few years, they're really screwing over the franchise. If they're intentionally tanking, they're doing a fantastic job.

Ottawa is going for the gutter with this Karlsson trade and they don't even have their 1st round pick next year lol. Absolute disaster. I can't wait to see how they screw up this situation.

I can't wait to see how they screw up this situation. Things are getting to the point where the franchise is in trouble. The team is carrying $235M in debt, attendance took a nosedive last year, and they're about to trade a future HOFer. They're also going to ice the same team that finished 2nd last this year, only without Karlsson and Hoffman. Probable bottom-3 finish this year, and they don't even own their 1st. There's going to be nobody in the seats, and as long as Melnyk is owner there's no end in sight.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Bettman wouldn't move an American team to Quebec but he would definitely move Ottawa. Kansas City?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 He'll take too much heat for taking away a Canadian team. But if he moves them to QUE he can say, "There you go now everyone shut up and leave me alone. Also everyone from OTT shutup because I had no choice." No one will be able to say anything to him really and OTT to QUE possibly comes out as a net positive for the NHL. I don't take Bettman as someone that cares what Canadian's think.

Lou was a puppet, media guy.
